ShockStop Stem on Vado SL

The thread's been hijacked by "the usual suspects" but anyway I ordered the Lupine head spacer mount and short extensions from BUP labs. This has the advantage of mounting the headlight lower where it's out of the way of the cables and also allows more room for my to mount my GoPro when filming for FulGaz and Rouvy (separate bar-mounted mount). The worst part of things like this is having to buy inexpensive small parts and getting hit with high shipping costs. A lot of sites have things like "Free shipping on order over $50", which is kind of hard to achieve when you're buying a $20 item. And a lot of these items could be shipped cheaply by putting them in an envelope and dropping them into the regular mail instead of using expensive "priority mail" services and big shipping companies.

Anyway, problem solved thanks to help from @Base and other forum members.

You could measure the actual width of your tyres using a caliper, Ras. I can measure mine.

With apologies to Rochrunner for continuing with the hijack- measured the Byways; 44-45mm. I might fling on the Gravelkings at weekend and can check those, but they feel wider then the Byways so we'll see if they actually are despite the 43mm rating.

Now back to your normally advertised programming. The idea for the fork mounted light fitting on my Vado SL that I installed a few years back and is brilliant, actually came from this exact thread where all this was discussed previously and a helpful contributor back then (forgotten who) laid out exactly which parts and how they attached the light etc with helpful photos. I wish there was a much better indexing system on this site because most topics have been discussed in the past but are now hard to find.

was it anything similar to this? Installed tightly no lower than the rim for safety. There are various stub light mounts that work ok.

measured the Byways; 44-45mm.

No idea how you could fit a Byway and a Speedrocker on a Vado SL 1 frame size M as the clearance between the tyre and the seat-stays on that e-bike is very tight.

What can I tell you!

As you know well, I've had them on for around 3 years now with the (potentially wider) Gravelkings SK (small knobs) 43mm on for a year+ before then. It looks tight, but it doesn't ever rub.

Here's some pics from 2023 shortly after I'd chucked them on. I posted these back then, pretty sure.

Great tyres. Would buy them again.

OK, Ras, I could not handle the 42 mm Rhombus or Tracer together with the rear Speedrocker on my Vado SL. I gave the rear mudguard to a friend and installed an Ass Savers Win Wing 2 instead. The problem solved.

Like I said, different tyres different fits. Especial gravel/mtb with protruding knobs.
