Battery for the Pace 500.2?

Exactly what I am thinking. I need him to clarify things. Thanks for the heads up. I remember mentioning to him that the Demo probably has a weak battery blah blah. Then he mentioned v2/v3. And then I know the v3 would need an adapter or conversion to fit the Pace 500.2. Now that I know all this maybe ask him for a better v2 battery OR just use what’s attached and I will use my Core battery as well. Hmm.

This was the stores reply to an email of mine,

Not to worry. I would have my technician upgrade the bike battery to a v3 so that it's a new battery. The goal here should be to get you the newest, up-to-date version of that bike so that it will be relevant in a couple years and if you needed to change a battery, then we would have it in stock or other dealers would have it in stock.

We had the bike sitting in a box and it's been used for test rides.

And I still somewhat wonder if it’s used in test rides it only has 10 miles or km on the bike. I think he has been honest throughout BUT I need a bit more clarity.

As long as the battery wasn't fully charged then stored away in a box, then the battery should be fine.

I'm pretty sure that the update is proprietary so you'll Have To use an Aventon battery in the future?

Using the Core battery you already have along with the Pace battery just makes sense.
You can carry the second battery with you to extend your range.

The Reention EEL battery and the case is standard, and you have lots of options for purchasing another one.
And if you don't need extended range, the smaller (less Ah) batteries are both cheaper and lighter.

The Only problem with the older version is that you can't use it on a V3, but Pace 500.2 doesn't use it anyway without an upgrade.

Ohh, and if the controller can communicate with the battery, the battery can be monitored for lots of things.

My display can tell me a lot about my batteries, and know which battery I'm using, but my battery doesn't have the communication wire,..

Aww so I should get him to clarify what he plans to do with the bike before shipping OR I should just tell him to leave the v2 battery. As is I am assuming. And then as you say I will have options if need be down the road. As a commuter every day I am really only hoping to have this 2/3 years before I might see some bigger issues. Longer the better of course. Thanks for all your input!

I think that you should buy it as is, especially if you will be charged for an upgrade.
He is a salesman, and won't mind selling you something.
(PS,.. I don't need all that battery info. Not having proprietary software in my batteries is worth the trade-off for me.)
(PSS,.. I'm just speculating about all this. I don't know a V2 from a V3 from a hole in the ground.

I see. And agree having options is better. As long as my Core battery works and more are available if needed. I think I will tell him to leave the battery as is lol.
