With 125% tariffs, will the e-bike market die?

That period is the best example of "this is no big deal".

At the worst, I was down 60% in my 401k; ended the year ~40% down. With dollar cost averaging (I was still working and contributing 6%) my investment graph ($) was back on trajectory in about 1.5 years as if it never went bad.

These are small blips in life if you don't get emotional.
Past performance does not guarantee future results

Absolutely correct no gaurantees; we agree! Short term gives the whiners something to whine about though; I'm a long termer. The true advantage of being around for a few years; been there done this.

This has been fun, but too many Debbie Downers.

Nice graph... showing past performance :) Unfortunately, we have never experienced what is happening now.. Well maybe back in the 30's. I'd buy back into this market if ANYONE but trump was at the helm. What he will do next is too unpredictable to bank on IMO. It will be fun to revisit this thread in six months

Best case scenario, trump slowly caves on his tariffs, they become less and smaller and each time he makes concessions to the original plan, the stock market gets a lift. Trust me, trump checks the indexes daily and knows messing with peoples 401k's isn't good for his approval ratings. Eventually we go back to the trade deals we initially had, maybe with marginal tariffs to protect his honor so he can still claim his tariffs are going to give us a new "golden age" if we're just patient.

True, and then we could have Vance for about 11.5 years!
Best case scenario is I wake up and this is just a particularly awful dream. But I don't think we are that lucky. Though like a lot of awful dreams many things just don't make any sense.

As much I'd like trump and Vance go away, Vance would be a vast improvement, since he's not insane, he has an ideology that you can debate, unlike the "orange one" who just twists in the wind. Google what Vance used to say describing trump, he was not complimentary at all, but he sold his integrity for power and political expediency. Sad these two are what America is saddled with now.

How old are you?

The only reason the 2008 crisis wasn't far, far worse was that lot of government officials did their jobs and effectively responded to the disaster. Their actions were far from perfect and created many other problems in following years. But they got us out of the ditch.

I have my doubts that in 2025 government officials could do their job if faced with a similar crisis. Or would even want to. And I think we are in the very early days of such a crisis.

Considerably better than the other choice; but we shouldn't go there since it has nothing to do with the price of ebikes.
I know right? she would have allowed boys in girls bathrooms and that's one of the biggest issues facing the country. Not to mention, she probably would have allowed Harvard to continue cancer research and what good is that when so many die from it.
