Winter Sucks

In a couple of days it will be the equinox then it is all downhill until December 21st.

Hey everybody, in just three weeks the days will start getting longer! I like to read in the late afternoon/early evening with natural light. It is already too dark today and it is only just after 4. I had the heat running all nigh and it dried the air so much that I had a bloody nose today.

Three or four weeks and maybe we'll all start feeling a bit better... or not ... I am aiming at Saint Patrick's Day for decent weather over here.
But I don't have this in the summer...

Called my friend today to see if he wanted to go riding. We usally ride 5-6 days a week in the woods for about 2hours at a time.
He said "no, it's too cold."
He's a bit of a pussy. He's gonna hate January and February.

I am reading a book of Jewish humor in two sweaters and a huge plaid cotton fleecy shirt-jacket thing that has a rear pocket for holding a pheasant, just to keep warm. I also have on an elf hat with goofy ears because it is the warmest hat I have. Who is going to see anyway? The book takes place in Brooklyn and contains drug use, violence, and lesbianism, among other things, such as history. An art teacher make an animate thing of clay that is not a dreidel, it is a 9 foot tall protector that is currently watching TV while on a massive dose of LSD, 50,000 times an OMG Joseph Campbell's heroic journey. One narrator is a cat. That is Winter for you! I would rater be out ridding bikes until 9 than be stuck inside.

what tire to go with for cold and rain?

I dont ride when there is snow or ice on the roads but cold and wet.I have the teravail on right now. i am running tubeless on my trek e bike so its heavy. but last winter I was on the stock tires now I am tubeless. but I dont know how either tire will work in such conditions. the rampart may be too puncture prone for winter/wet riding. this is on the road with a tiny bit of gravel at most.good traction is the most important. but there is a lot more junk on the road in the winter. there may be patches of slick though.

Guilty - today was too cold and wet to ride. In Australia ! Definitely NOT complaining - rain heading into summer helps delay the bush fire risk.

I had a grocery shopping ride just after the sunrise today. -5 C. No worries as long as you wear the right clothes.

Wahoo cheats. Any user of Wahoo I know tells me it is 3 deg C off. The company could eventually test their thermometer and do a firmware fix!

New Pogies arrived. Only $16.00 on Amazon and they are fantastic. They keep your gloveless hands warm and toasty in sub-zero weather.

I bought these Kemimoto's two years ago, and they work really well too. They are a bit large looking. The new ones (above) that I just purchased are smaller and better looking. Due to the imperfect sealing caused by the brake cables, I found that if I stuff a fluffy sock, cloth, or loose hollofil on the inside of the pogie, it prevents any cold air infiltration from the where the cables protude. For me, I've never needed gloves even on the coldest of days.

Kemimoto ATV Gloves $40.00

You sure you didn't "drop" some of that Acid too?

These things can make the coldest of days easy to bear. They can be had for about 80¢ a piece.
