Winter Sucks

I have had a good week. I am going to buy a new one of those mil sweaters for all Winter and save on heating. It will pay for itself. I am leaning toward the heather. A bit off topic but still a good thing to do on a Winter's day, among other things, I assembled a couple of new bikes in-box. I am impressed. They have 140Nm, with a Gates Carbon Drive to a Nexus e-specific 5 IGH, and e50 tires, with quad hydro brakes. They are quiet, smooth and comfortable with an adjustable riser. I installed racks and panniers for utility. The lights turn on automatically at near dusk conditions.

It was only $40.99 after tax and shipping for an all wool real deal sweater. The 42 I wanted was sold out but as you said there are ribs.

I am stuck inside with a five-day series of storms. All I have today is one really good large book and a couple of motors to rebuild. On the upside in three days the days will start getting longer.

Thank Zeus for longer days. I was so used to starting my daily ride at 5-6pm and riding 3-4 hours. This darkness at 5:30 is really cutting into my biking.

I am giving some thought to a warmer jacket or parka for winter rides. For anybody here that wears a parka during cold weather rides, is the length restrictive when pedaling?

I'm all for counting blessings, but if that Zeus guy's also in charge of the short days, I'd like a word with him.

Love sunset rides on the Coast Highway, but now they're in rush hour traffic — which makes staying out till the color's gone a lot scarier.

The good and bad news: Sunset and sunrise times change very slowly around the solstices. So it won't get noticeably worse at this point but will take more than a few weeks to get noticeably better.

In this series of storms I am reading 'Indigenous Continent'. Good stuff and thick enough to last.

My Coast Guard wool sweater just arrived and I have it on. It was only $40.99 after tax and shipping from McGuireArmy&Navy. This is the good stuff. Those sleeves are extra-long. I had to roll them up just to type, but great for cycling when down. Practical for winter but on second thought maybe a bit Sargent Pepper's with the epaulettes.

That bike is just a simple three speed town bike. I did ride it at a MTB bike park a couple of weeks ago, while in tweed. The folks with full suspensions, 34 rings to 11-50 cassettes didn't know that it is electric. It has a coaster brake. That was fun.
nice gams.
