Why is everything Elon scam-ish?

That's just schrewd marketing.

Ford did something similar by showing million pound truck being towed by F150. While F150 is a fantastic truck, no automobile gasoline (not diesel locomotive) engine can ever pull 1 million pounds on a real road.
The same channel that you posted also explains the Ford trick.

Yeah, and you knew that he did it in part to drive a whole bunch of armchair engineers crazy, in order to Jack up the buzz, and he was already planning a round II, whereby he says 'ok guys you got me' so next it'll be against a 4x4 Ford or maybe a Ram, and they'll load it up to make the weight/traction force similar. Of course it'll still win, due to tires designed for that type of traction, etc, etc.

I doubt that the skin of that vehicle is anything more than just a caricature of the real design planned, as a lot of it would not meet Federal automotive standards, and I'd bet also a wind tunnel coefficient measurement would show it could be much better.

Just like he calls the $100 refundable 'deposits' , as being 'orders' it's all about marketing and hype with Musk. " Hey everyone we got 187000 orders." Investors eat that baloney up. He has no choice but to pull out every stop on marketing antics, as he has massive debt, and he absolutely has to do some amazing magic to keep the stock propped enough to keep the company afloat. His revenue misses were terrible this year, and model 3 sales were nowhere what he was forecasting, a year ago, when it counted, but every forecast has been ratcheted downward, so everyone forgets what the 'real one' was supposed to be.

He wants everyone to look away from the company's actual pending financial disaster and focus on the forward looking magic show. Great sleight of hand.

Have a great Thanksgiving, Mike!

And having the poor pay for rich peoples' cars was beautiful.

IMO,Ravi, use of the word "just", isn't worthy of your intellect; it is indeed shrewd marketing, but it is also dishonest.

I forget the eventuality...wasn't there a battery swap pitstop scam where a mere demonstration siphoned taxpayer money?

Well, say what you will, but where I live there are more Teslas on the road than Toyota Corollas, and the closer you get to downtown Vancouver, the more the numbers go up. I left Vancouver today during the rush hour on a long weekend and about every 10 or so cars going the opposite direction on the freeway were Teslas. CN

Where I live, I don't think I've ever seen a Tesla in town. Was in Chicago over the weekend and lots of them. Not a Musk fan at all, not a Tesla fan either, but that is because of my size compared to Tesla size I've seen; looks like it would fit like a glove!

Over on the Victoria side it's the same. Can't throw a ball-bearing without hitting a Tesla. ;-)

But seriously, I have no problem with them and would actually like a model X. Just beyond what I'm comfortable paying for a vehicle.

I still enjoy poking fun at Elon though, as he is a bit off the map when it comes to manipulated marketing and spurious promises.

I just couldn't sit through any of the above videos. Car ads have always been a joke. I refuse to even own a a car.
I looked online earlier after seeing a couple of used Teslas for sale in the paper today. I had no idea (beyond the base model) they were that expensive. OK, I knew they didn't give Model 3s away, but I had no idea the mid-range models cost that much.
Regarding the truck......no doubt they'll sell a zillion of them to the 'bull nuts on the trailer hitch crowd' amongst others, but I think it's an absolute eyesore.

What do you think is going to happen? Will Elon make a decent profit? Will he lose money? Will he make investors lose money? They sure are scrambling.

The Harvard Corporate Law review I found summarized the success of poison pill ( Anti Takeover Plans) during normal economic conditions:
=Total failure, no success and terminated by the first shareholders meeting when the board will be terminated by vote.
Because their actions were bad for the business and penultimately the shareholders.
