I wouldn't choose either of these: I'm 6'4" tall so I would want a larger frame size.

But in all honesty, they look to be quite different bikes for different uses (street focus or trail focus). What is your intended use?

Well, I personally would not choose the Xroad version as it looks like pedal assist only goes to 25 km/h and that is too restrictive for me. The Race looks like it assists up to 20 mph. That alone would be worth the monetary difference to me. Plus the Race would be a little more multi-purpose if you have trail riding that you want to throw into the mix. Even though it would have a bit more rolling resistance on the street as compared to the Xroad, that would likely be overcome by the higher top assisted speed.

Let me clarify the question then...which one would you choose based on relative price and VALUE? Those are $CDN. They both go to around 31kmh in Canada but I plan on de-limiting the motor and that is why I am looking at Gen 2 CX.

The value is about the same. The Race costs more because of the fork, the more complex frame and rear suspension, and dropper post. Do you need a rack? Putting one on the Race would not be easy.

I like that Race 4 but if I cannot get a rack on it I would need to carry spare batteries in a backpack which would stink in summer (-: But WAIT ...I might be able to squeeze a powerpack in a bag under the top tube. Race 4 is back in the race!

Steve, did you wind up getting that Moustache, the blue, dual suspension bike? If yes, very, very nice, congrats! Much better choice then the Gepedia.

As for a rear rack, forget about that Thule, that's for a hard tail bike. Check out the Old Man Mountain Racks or Robert Axle Project website.

Contact them and tell them you want to fit a rear rack to fit a through axle, giving them your axle size as per the Moustache specs. They should be able to fit you up with the proper Robert Axle Project rear axle that will fit their Old Man Mountain recommended rear rack.

As I've advised others on this site when inquiring of a rear rack, the thru-axle mounted downstay of the OMM racks take the brunt of the weight you will be carrying, not the downtubes as on that Thule or Topeak.

They are very responsive and friendly folks who I am sure will be able to steer you to the right application.

Here is my Haibike Full FatSix, with front and rear OMM racks and through axles. (And the choice in bomb-proof, rear mount, dual suspension bicycle racks are slim as in OMM and nobody else at this time)
