What bike you will pick as a first e-mtb? Turbo Levo carbon comp 2025 vs Turbo levo 2025 vs Turbo levo SL comp 2025 with new genie shock

Just see the breakdown of the total usage of my e-bikes:

1732585358563.png

  • The Vado SL is my flat-handlebar gravel e-bike. I have used it on gravel e-races; my rides involve mild off-road (no mountains, no rocks)
  • Vado 5.0 and 6.0 are the same e-bike, only Roadrunner is the e-bike built on a new frame (lifetime frame warranty)
  • Giant Trance E+ is an e-MTB similar to Levo from the same model year.
Now think why the e-MTB was the least used of my e-bikes? The reason was very simple: that e-bike was not good on-road. To use it, I had to carry it with a car to the forest entry.

The last time I used the e-MTB was when I borrowed it from my brother (the current owner) for a gravel group ride. Yes, the e-MTB was very good for riding the sand. However, whenever the group got onto asphalt, I was unable to catch up with my buddies! Even if that e-MTB was completely de-restricted on speed! I could not muster enough cadence, the air drag was too high, and I could not burn the battery for a high assistance ride.

Please draw the conclusion yourself.

If I needed a new e-bike that would be a Tero 5.0. Not a Tero X (too heavy). Tero X is neither an XC nor an MTB e-bike. It is a SUV e-bike that you may hardly take on the trail. It rides like a tank :)

My last ride on the e-MTB. It was totally derestricted yet my average speed was just 21 km/h. Basically, a flat terrain.

Thank you! Yes i think same, it pretty cool to have mountain rides, but unless you full time doing that and do regular trails i don't think it good way for me
I ll have a look on Tero 5.0 EQ for sure and soon will decide. Do you think extra components coming with EQ pretty useful? there a light from motor in front, extra alloy mood covers on wheels and there a baggage place on rear wheel
Also there some garmin radar which info about vehicle behind on road

Having the equipment is good and practical.
Stefan, a question, if we speak about a choice from all options from Specialized brand, do you think overall an adventure bike with an option to drive asphault/gravel/any terrain different kinds with upclimbs and etc and go easily go long distance and comfort. It looks like Tero 5.0 or do you have something in mind which fit good as well?

Best of luck with your decision and look forward to seeing your new ride whatever it might be. 👍

@Stefan Mikes @Prairie Dog Guys, i m with news, i contacted retailer and they have few Tero options for me: Tero 5.0 EQ which we talked about and also Tero 4.0 EQ and Tero 4.0 Step-through EQ 2023
i ll send link to easy see technical details, prices almost 1 to 1 like you see on site without discounts:
Tero 4.0 step-through 2025
Tero 5.0 EQ 2025
Tero 4.0 step-through EQ 2023

What one will be best option you think? 4.0 step-through looks pretty cheap and has battery size, probably with less torque it will be me longest ride results but up hills probably will use more energy %
I see 4.0 step-through pretty cheap components but same battery and still not bad motor
And 5.0 EQ is way better components, same power motor like on levo i suppose and extra accessories for road with radar/baggage place and mood covers and from light

Probably with price of 4.0 step-through i can save a lot money and later buy extra bike if i will feel that i need bike for exactly trails or other purposes or smth from new lines
But i dont want buy smth which will be not good for current moment and always think like it temporal to get better later

I really need your advices when you ll have time guys 🙏
As i think if i will take 5.0 eq there will be no cons vs 4.0 step-through, it better in all terms, more ready for roads with accessories but just cost way more ~1400$ over 4.0 step-through and 9 speeds vs 12 also rockshox way better and i will feel my outroad rides way better right?
And little question, if my wife will want to ride my bike, step-through will no give she an option? The problem that she is 155 sm height (5’1) and i m 179 and comfortly on L bike size i think from Tero sizes. So even with step-through it will not make to fir her too?

And last to ask, for my preferences i described earlier to just ride on different terrain and asphalt roads, parks, sometimes mountains with common travel like an adventure and when i have maybe some not hard trails rarely. If i will buy Levo for that it will be bad idea, right? There not smth if i go with Levo i will be ok with all just little more diffucult on road but more pleasure in harder terrains? It is significantly feels?
And Tero is smth like a one for all, just no extreme trails and fast downhills and i m good with it for all common purposes and variety of rides, right?
(Sorry for ask it again)

Tero 5.0 is the best you can get: the strongest motor, the best components, and the equipment
Tero 4.0 ST would be very good for your wife. I think size S could be appropriate for her. There is a sizing tool next to each e-bike model in the Specialized website.

Forget the Levo if you need an e-bike that is practical on pavement.

Thank you, i will order tero 5.0 eq in few moments, anyway that a bike i ve started want to buy first and that the bike i will take with final decision ;)
I ll get delivery not very soon, probably march in worts scenario but anyway weather will be not comphy even in pretty warm place here. So i will just calm waiting my future bike
And i consider that even if i will change my mind and after year or later i will want trail bike, tero still will be great option to take it everywhere for common rides and being universal
But i m doubt about trails as my future activity
But bike adventure and just rides i like a lot and i can easy do it with tero 5.0 eq

Thank you all guys! Will update after get it and first rides
Btw any advices on what i should buy or prepare for bike in advance? Since it will be harder to fast delivery smth i cant find in small local stores
And i think such kind of bike is impossible to put on wall right? But it has bicycle leg so it fine and easy to place at home

  • A rear-view mirror, e.g. Mirrycle (from Amazon)
  • A good bicycle helmet
  • A floor bicycle pump :)
1 and 3 definitely,
2nd i think i have that one, hope its ok:

And btw i thinking about best storage use on tero, is smth like that will be comfort? :
I also thinks is there any chance to make a good seat for my pet (dog 24 kg medium size) but i dont think it safe or comfort enough

Absolutely! It is a classic MTB helmet.

Most of people in these Forums would say you should carry your dog in a trailer. It is beyond my competence.

You also asked for the storing the e-bike. Well, I always used the kickstand for my non-MTB e-bikes. Some people store their e-bikes vertically against the wall but again it is not what I can help you with.

Yeah i think kick stand is fine for tero since its big and high weight than try to place it on wall everytime
About trailer you mean that?

I not sure i ll use it but just for some rare situations i ll have a look
Car to the place and then let doggo run at nature will be better i think
I also managed to ride my old hardtail with dog on leash below my seat, he was my engine most of time because he so energetic, its samoyed dog btw ;)
