Yeah the Ortlieb one is not exactly the same as a Klickfix mount though is it? Has those safety cords to keep the bag firmly attached no matter the type of roads and specifically designed for gravel. It's a big 10 litre bag so needs that extra safety.indeed same mount.
The handlebar bags on the Tern's do get a good whack when riding on unpaved roads, the swing "a bit" up and down with the 20" wheels, never lost one. Maps are unreadable in those conditions...
Alpkit does have a EU shop now so shipping from them would be easier these days.
When I rode in Holland you fellas have that great cycling infrastructure with baby smooth tarmac cycle paths that were a joy to whizz around on and it's all flat as a pancake whereas here on the moors even the tarmac lanes are potholed and gravel-y so you get bounced around a lot. Hence these extra straps to stop the klickfix from popping open which it does do. Have you ever opened one up? Inside it's just a weak metal spring and plastic, like a toy. Any weight in the handlebar bag and that mount will give. And I frequently carry old film cameras and extra winter clothing etc in the front bag which can make it heavy:
Since covid and it's probably another wonderful Brexit effect, our local roads rarely get repaired anymore so potholes are flourishing. Who needs gravel!
I'm not putting a klickfix mount on my new Brave as this bike will take me a lot further off-road into very rough terrain. Still considering options, will stick with the old pannier for now. The motor is very powerful so weight isn't so much a concern unlike on my Vado SL so I currently just chuck everything into the pannier.
