Walk function on Trek Bicycles

I asked a Bosch representative about the lack of a walk feature on Trek bikes. He responded with the following:

Thank you for your message.

Although Walk Assist is the standard for MY17 eBikes with the Bosch System, some manufacturers, such as Trek, have opted to intentionally exclude the functionality from their eBikes for 2016-2017. Since this is a hardware distinction at the manufacturing level, the Walk Assist will not activate even if enabled on the XM700+ via the Bosch eBike Systems Diagnostics Software.

Sorry for the bad news - happy to help with any other questions that you may have. Thanks!

Best regards,

The walk feature is available on some Trek bikes equipped with the Shimano Steps system.

I could have sworn the walk function was enabled with my 2017 Powerfly 7 (Walk and the + button). On level ground I didn't feel the bike pushing forward, but the pedals started rotating when I rolled the bike on flat ground, and they don't rotate with walk mode off.

The walk function only worked once for about 2 seconds when my controller was broken. During normal usage and replacement - does not work - Powerfly 8
