velomini 3 help please

Hi All ! I was wondering if anyone can refer me to a site or help me with my velomini 3. I just got a used velomini 3 the powers up, throttle works, pedal assist works, but cuts off after 10 minutes of riding and won't power back up. after an all night charge, I get 28.4 volts at the battery. After about 10 minutes I could get it to power back up, but all the power lights go low, and dim on a slight hill. Thanks in advance !!

Sounds to me that your battery is going out. Older batteries will always show voltage but that voltage drops rapidly when put under a load. Time for a new battery.

Thanks Mark, is there a way to load test the Battery? would you happen to know how to remove the Battery? Thanks..

I don't know your bike or battery. Load testing a battery is not easy if you don't know how to do it. Some batteries make it harder than others. To me your bike is behaving like it has a tired battery and that is enough load test if it were my bike. Do a search on your bike and find out if replacement packs are possible or maybe rebuilding your old one. I'm sure some others will chime in on possible way to load test your battery but when a battery is tired and starting to go out, it behaves like yours is doing.

Thanks again Mark, Do you think I can safely run a 36volt battery on this 180watt motor velomini 3?

No it is a 24 v 9ah. I read I might be able to get more speed with a higher voltage?

My battery is in the frame and was going to put on an external one. I've added a link to show what the battery looks like....Its at the very end of the 52 second video.

36 volt will certainly be faster but your motor is not rated for this and may not last very long. Same with controller. I suppose if your careful and watch for heat in the motor and make sure your controller can take the extra voltage then maybe. An external battery is a good idea, maybe make it a 24 volt one and be safe. A new battery will always feel better than the one it replaces, so for me I would stick to a 24 volt pack.

Thank you Mark, I will take your advice. I will disassemble the bike , remove the old battery, and probably pit on an external battery.

Have you heard of FTH in Fullerton California, they are suppose to be able to rebuild your old battery packs.. thanks again..

I don't know the re builders but will I just pick one as close to home when the time comes for me to need a new pack. Preferably one that I can drive to if possible to avoid expensive shipping.
Others on here will know more than me on this subject though.
