Yes, the LiFEPO4 chemistry is 3.65V per cell vs 4.2V for Li Ion.
So 10 x 4V. = 42V MAX for Li Ion, NMC, etc; LiFEPO4 is 3.65 x 12=43.8V max charge.

I ran accross some value priced batteries on/through Amazon. The packs are supplied by Afterpartz Company, fulfilled by Amazon from their warehouse and are on Prime, so fast 2 day - free shipping.
The packs are made with Samsung ICR18650-26F, 26 mAh cells, UL cert. Not the high power cells available at much higher prices, but good, solid, brand name cells.
The following are all 36 volt, 10.4 amp hour. All packs come with bike mount and charger.

I know this thread is old but this is becoming a real marketing thing (BS) these days.
52v is NOT more capacity or power than 48v, it's simply a 48v battery FULLY CHARGED.
Just as with cordless elec mowers now, "voltage hype" is becoming a real (bs) thing.
Kobalt (Lowes) "80v" mower is a 72v battery. It's 40v mower is a 36v battery. WorX 56v mower is 48v setup, etc etc BS hype to get you to choose their product for no real reason.
Same thing happening with Ebikes, don't fall for it.
This is not to you JoePah, just the marketing bs is ticking me off.
Are all ebike batteries LIFEPO4 now or are there still the much more dangerous type out there?
If there are still both, that should be a PRIME subject of battery discussion/comparion.
I don't see anything claiming these are LiFePO4 batteries. If they are the older and much more volatile type lithium, this is not the great deal it seems.

LiFePo is an old tech, generally pouches. Most cells are (now) more complicated and much more energy dense. These cells are ICR chemistry. Easy to Google. I found a spec sheet from Samsung going back to 2009. The most advanced cells, like the GA, can be discharged at a much higher rate and they hold 3500 mah versus 2600. They are cheap, I guess, because they are somewhat obsolete. Like so many things, if you don't need the cutting edge, why pay for it?

Bought luna cycle mid drive cyclone kit months ago and have been waiting all summer, now fall for them to sell me the 72 volt high amp battery and charger this kit requires to run. They continued to tell me they were out, that more would be in, keep checking back for months now. So I finally have had enough and want to return the motor and controller (still in box) since I cant use it without the battery they refuse to sell me. They refuse to take it back! Lie Lie Lie....Dont give a dime to these crooks!

Unfortunately, these forums can't answer questions like this anymore. People are going off in too many directions and it's too easy to mislead people. I recommend Micah Toll's book on batteries, a Kindle or softbound, to really try to understand. A forum like this exists to sell a certain kind of bike. I started this thread, so I won't abandon it, but your question requires some serious research.
The BMS in my Luna battery was bad. They finally replaced it. I charge to 80 or 90 percent. These high capacity cells can lose capacity quickly, so then they aren't high capacity cells. Go figure.
The vendor I bought the LiFePo battery from is still selling, and he has good feedback. It's a heavy battery and I would not push it too hard, but is has held up well. Neither battery is suitable for high performance stuff. If you want that, it gets complicated fast.
Honestly, look for decent vendors and try to be realistic. There are some great electric motorcycles, especially stuff in the pipeline, if you want to go fast.

Distance is predicted by watt-hours, which GeorgeS put in the photos. For a different battery, multiply the AH by the voltage, so a 36V 10AH is 360 watt-hr. A rider might burn 20 watt-hr/mile, so divide 360 by 20, and the predicted range is 18 miles. A lot of things wrong with this prediction, but the watt-hr rating remains.one way to compare battery capacity.
These are two different battery technologies. The Sun is a pouch type battery, using a different lithium chemistry LiFEPO4. Considered a little safer, but less energy per weight, so the batteries are bulkier and heavier. The other uses 18650 cells, maybe 52 of them for 48V, spot welded together. Both have battery management circuits for safety. Neither is a recognized brand, but Lunacycle does tell you who made the cells, usually Panasonic, Sanyo, or Samsung.
I have purchased batteries from Luna and I prefer their batteries that come in enclosures for mounting on the frame. I did buy one from them that's a brick, which I keep in a bag. It's a small one though, Only 3 pounds. Weight isn't that important on an ebike, but I'd rather have a 7 pound battery on the frame over a 13 pound brick in frame bag.
You do get what you pay for on ebay at least. There are 36V bricks for $160 shipped. I wouldn't touch those.
I did buy a 36V 10AH dolphin style battery off ebay in 2015 from a chinese vendor. Came in two days as they still allowed air shipping then, Today, it's by boat and truck. Takes a long time.

Actually I'm researching the Sun-E for a solar panel set up, those Lifepo4 appear to get great reviews are the cheaper and decimate any lead acid battery.
I'm 5"11 and have 3 bikes 2 are Cyclocross, Rock mountain CCR XXL alloy with nice long cranks is pure joy for those long rides I can pack a lot of weight in the saddle bags and still have fun...
Other Cyclocross is the 2015 Carbon Threshold by Norco size 55.5 cm this bike is almost to much fun, small drops ( 3 feet ) no problems as long as I have no bottle in the cage... It is pure bliss, stupid light insanely agile only draw back is no saddle bags for carbon bikes on small seat racks designed for seat post...
I was thinking of turning my other bike, Garry Fisher Big Sur hard tail with quick release drop out front and rear axles, into an electric bike this way I could use 2.5 inch wide tires if I wanted but also be able to swap in skinny 1 inch wide for better distance.
The CCR is the 2nd choice with drop out axles I would need a fab guy to weld it in though, could get front shocks aswell and it would sail like the wind.
Speed is nice but anything over 50 kmph on a e-bike that has no weight for stopping power - traction is no brainer for me.
That said a little get up and go would be nice and I would be happy with even 30 kmph.
I have been looking at Highpowercycles for a few years now and probably the way I will go if the prices ever come down to reality.
Any suggestions would be helpful, thank you for your replies and have a great day !
