Vado SL 5.0 -- reasonable range on hills? (Mt. Diablo, CA)

Is there a way to export that data? I don't see a way to do that.

It will open all of the rides that I did under Mission Control and probably stored on the Specialized site. I guess I could check there for export.

the specialized "ride" app can export a fit file, as mission control also does, but either a) no tool exists which can view the dual power channels, or b) it's not exporting the motor power data. the exported fit files appear to only contain location, speed, altitude, heart rate, rider power, cadence, etc.

I might have missed it. Where's the EXPORT option in RIDE?

I’m not sure why but sometimes RIDE includes all the motor and rider power data and sometimes it doesn’t. When is does there seems to be a wealth of k formation regarding e-bike parameters so I think the app is useful for e bike rides as well as acoustic. Often it seems to record two versions of a ride, one with and one without the additional data. Glitchy

Has anyone tried running Mission Control and RIDE at the same time? It seems they have some features in common, but other unique features. One of you guys said both apps might not be able to connect at the same time to the Vado SL 5.0 because perhaps only one Bluetooth device can connect at a time.

Thanks.

When I ran RIDE as a stand alone app it only recorded basic speed, time and a few other things. I noticed that it listed the rides I had done in the past using mission control so I opened those and it gave me all kinds of additional data - power, motor power, battery info, etc. I’m thinking the way to use it is to run mission control during rides and then open RIDE later to view the MC ride. It gives more data than MC reports. I’m still experimenting though.

Thanks for that info. I'm interested in the ride data you mentioned--power, % usage of each mode, battery info, etc.--in addition to distance, elevation gain, elapsed time, grade and so on. I may just have to give RIDE a try, even though I don't need much of what it does in terms of maps and social media connections.

Why don't you just use BLEvo John. You would be shocked what wealth of information is available there. Including options to tune your e-bike.

Hi Stefan..... I'll look at BLEvo. I've been using RideWithGPS for a year now with my previous ebike. I really like the way it displays the ride stats. MC adds Calories, WH Consumption and Avg Support Level, which are nice to have. What I really want to add are the stats showing % of each mode used and cadence, and it seems that RIDE will show me those. Since I've only had my Vado SL for less than two weeks, I'll see how it goes with those three apps. (A quick test running all three apps at the same time seems to work.)

Sorry to post it but I want you to see the light :)

Can you ask for more information on your ride? The thing even knows how many times you changed the assistance level. The ride map tells you even more!

Very cool--no doubt about it. Dare I say "TMI?" Haha. Truly, that may be more information than I want or need to know. But it is indeed impressive. I see the light!!

yep, just install “ride” and as long as you logged the ride in mission control, you’ll see those additional stats. you don‘t need to run “ride” while riding.

Thanks, mschwett! I see that now. Very cool. I may not need RideWithGPS anymore, but I do like how it displays the ride map and data. I do notice that RWGPS and MC record elevation gain differently, but I gather that's to be expected. (I have an iPhone XR.) For me, that's not critical since all of these stats are only for myself. Stefan wants me to try BLEvo.... 😎 .... but I'll see how I do with MC/RIDE for a while.

Stefan... FYI.... I've ordered a RE Battery. No more range anxiety!

the beauty of RwGPS is the web based route planning, which immediately syncs to the app on your phone for turn by turn navi. on a long unfamiliar ride, i love being able to see the elevation profiles ahead of time. i still use it for long rides or unfamiliar routes, alongside mission control which i use on every ride as my primary “dashboard” and stat collection tool.

Agreed. We have used it to plan routes when we travel and also just look at rides in a new area assuming the the folks who live there already know where we should be riding. I ride with a group that uses it for group routes and we have often shared routes with friends who are looking for new places to ride locally.
