Hi all,
Unfortunately, I am having an issue with my 691wH battery which appears to be semi dead. It’s been working faultlessly for the past year or so and then suddenly today no LEDs when pressing the button. Obviously I tried the usual things (mounting, unmounting etc) and I know it’s not anything to do with the bike because my original 478wH battery still works just fine in the bike. Although I don’t use the bike on a daily basis, it’s never been out in the rain or even wet roads, never in rough terrain so is pretty much pristine.
When I plug in the wall charger - either with the battery in the bike or on its own - the charger’s twin LED turns on the red light for about 5 seconds (which I believe denotes charging) then turns green (which means that it is reporting that the battery is fully charged). When the battery is in the bike, the lights on the front and back of the bike go on for about 5 seconds and then the front like blinks twice.
Oddly enough, I still seem to be able to connect to the battery via Bluetooth using the Specialized app on my smartphone and this tells me that the battery is healthy, 62% charged, battery health 100%. It doesn’t seem to be “remembering” the last time it interrogated the battery because if I exit the specialised app and go outside of Bluetooth range it tells me it cannot connect to the bike. However, as soon as I get back within range of the battery, the screen populates again with the batteries details. I have attached a couple of screen grabs of the app's report on the battery.
I’m presuming my only recourse is to go to specialized UK head office directly (rather than one of my local dealers because frankly they don’t seem to have the first clue about electric bikes) and ask them how to proceed. Has anyone had this problem before?
Cheers (in much sadness)….Rod
