Transporting a bike in the rain

Is it the issue we think it is ? When I bought my Vado I had a 1.5 hr drive home. It poured so hard the last 45 minutes of the drive that traffic slowed down to 30-40 MPH on the highway . I had no protection . It was on a hitch rack. So I am sure it got every bit of the raining in both directions : No Problem. Of course I wouldn't subject the Bike to this on purpose > It probably is wise to cover up your CP. Mine was fine. The battery housing was perfectly dry . After all E-Cars get wet don't they ?

I think it may depend on the number of connections and the "quality" of the bike. My Turbo Levo is made to be covered with water and mud.

I wouldn't purposely soak my vado . However I have washed it without issue . There are vent holes in the bottom cover . Granted you need to be practical I doubt my Vado is the water resistant wonder your Levo is . But probably close except for lights

Thanks for that great resource! I noticed that there is a 'US' page (rosebikes.com, vs. '.ie', which is Ireland), but it's interesting that the prices are still in euros. :) Anyway, they have a nice sleeve I can use to protect the big opening where my battery goes, while carrying the bike on a hitch-mounted rack. I had been wrapping with plastic and taping. I'll let you know if it works.

How about using a swimming pool noodle ? A cheap toy just a hollow foam tube about 2 inch id and 4 inch od .I will try cutting a slit in one and put it over the wire and cable runs.

This sounds like a great solution...I may try this on our upcoming road trip.

This is my next project....Lights on the bike rack because of the cover and a trailer light harness on the car.
 
I agree, it’s important that you make the plate visible and illuminated in the dark hours. Most officers won’t bother you, but you can be pulled over and not allowed to continue until it is right. Good luck, be safe and responsible.

What's the best way to deal with making the license plate visible with a hitch-mounted 2-bike rack?

Well, if I felt it totally necessary I’d just mount the license to the back of the rack. Wouldn’t work at night without a lot more work, of course.
 
Yes....no driving at night but I'd just photo copy and laminate the thing 😄. Maybe one day I will get a license plate light on there.Easy to put the actual plate on there.

I do have a camo motorcycle cover that works on my bike, but have never used it to transport. I simply
remove the batry & carerully duct tape over the connection. This has worked for me thru deluges of
biblical purportion.
 
IMHO, you are gambling a very expensive part of your bike on the fact that you believe it's "waterproof". Your call, but I would find a little safer way of cleaning your battery.....especially as regarding high pressure spraying. That's just daring trouble. If not today, at some point down the line. Like when the membrane covering that mickey mouse bar graph lets go for instance.....

Call the bike manf and see what they have to say about your high pressure washing of the battery as regards to warranty.....

I say pressure wash it.... But first I would soak it in the bathtub for a few hours to loosen any grime 👍

If you're going that far, I say go for it. Use a dish pan full of mineral spirits or some other solvent to soak it. Then use a high pressure spray to rinse.....

KIDDING!!! Don't even consider doing something like that!!!
