Hey all, I’ve just taken delivery of Specialized Vado SL 4.0 and now need some roof bars to take it out into the country. I’m looking at the Thule Pro Ride 598’s, but I’m worried the grab bracket isn’t going to fit around the down frame because of the width. Anyone else got the same bike and have any Thule roof bar experience? Thanks.

I’m not sure of your Vado’s weight but the weight limit of the Thule Pro Ride is 20kg. I use a tow bar mounted Thule rack which have a higher weight limit and are ideal for EBikes.

Unfortunately, the Thule 598 ProRide won't work since the down-tube on the Vado SL is 20mm too wide for the width of the claws. The maximum down-tube width is 80 mm and the Vado SL is 100 mm. There are two new Thule models that have just come on to the market called the 568 FastRide and 568 TopRide. Both hold the bike securely by the front Thru-Axle and takes bikes up to 18 Kg, which should be ok for the SL. My advice though, unless you are really strong is to first of all try lifting the bike on to an imaginary roof rack to see if it is going to be a problem lifting to the required height. Even a Vado SL is not that light when lifting that high. Hope this helps.
