Thule Easyfold XT2 - A good rack for ebikes and the best one if you have fenders

You can see the tailights are obstructed as I noticed on some of the other pictures on this thread. Got these trailer lights on ETrailer. Also, you can see how I've used a ratchet strap underneath to pull downwards on platform and it makes it very solid. I can still tilt the bikes back for rear entry to the vehicle without removing the ratchet strap. IMG_5460 bike rack 2.jpgIMG_5458 bike rack.jpg

My Thule rack Just arrived and have just inserted it into the hub...I haven’t yet put my bike on it. TNEP your strap placement was instructive. I’ve always suffered from poor tool using ability (even though I’m a man). Next step is to figure out the trailer lights for my Ridgeline. Good thread...$795 good

We’ve used our Thule Easyfold now for two E bikes w/o any problems. We have a 2” hitch. The bikes fit easily with the pedals on each bike positioned straight down in the middle (facing each other).
It seems very solid going over bumps and turns.

We've had our Thule Easyfold for over a year now using it with 2 ebikes. Works well. Love the 'fold away' feature!

Yes we do love the fact that it tucks away in our garage!

We’re still a bit concerned about the fact that we don’t hear the ‘click’ that others note when tightening the clamps, indicating the clamp is tight enough. However, it seems very snug and secure and we don’t over tighten. We have a call and email into Thule about it, and are planning to take it into the local rack store where we purchased it, just to be sure.
We really like the rack.

Like I said, stop being concerned and call Thule. they wil warranty it quickly, sending you a replacement...no more concern.

It is 6/15/2025 and I'm looking at

EasyFold XT 2-Bike Hitch Rack.

Unfortunatelly it is suuuuuper expensive, and very similar one I had from Costco for marely $320, that has been just recalled a year ago (Kilimanjaro). To me this price is scam... Although pricey (another bike rack I owned) the faulty one I was able to exchange via Thule after use for 8 years! Back 13 years ago I spent on that model back then (when money had more power!! ~ $890)... maybe this is why it is so pricey this model? .. I don't know.. It's nothing particular, and from what I see the ramp is waaaaaay to shoooooooort!! (to stip to load your heavy ebike efortlesly )... I don't understand why people claim it to be so good, probably not having good understanding of good ergonomics, or that it should cost at minimum 100% less!! I need one that folds (hence easy for storage in garage), has wheels for easy holing between car and garage, and has ramp. My wrists are bad.. I'm leaning to get one from REI (i.e. this model) , i.e. provided this model has suberp warranty.. Only that would justified to me such a high price .. there are many very similarly designs off Amazon for roughly half price....otherwise, I will keep researching.

We have owned the Thule Easy Fold XT 2 since 2017. Yes the price is high and when you look at it you ask yourself why? We have gotten our money’s worth on this rack hauling Trek, Cannondale, and Townie ebikes for thousands of miles with this rack. You are correct about the ramp being short. My ramp got lost, or stolen and I replaced it with the longer ramp that Thule now makes. Of course that was another 90.00. The longer ramp works quite well. Before my medical lifting restrictions, I would just pick up the bikes to load them on the rack. I now faithfully use the ramp and walk modes on the bikes and the process is quite easy. I can mount and remove the hitch rack myself and it folds up nicely for storage. When Im hauling a bike that costs over 5k I want it to be on a safe and reliable rack. For us it a has been money well spent.

Thank you! Why would Thule not include longer ramp and bump price up say by $50 ?? I never understand those mind limited 'business strategists' they are illiterate when getting to do with 'purpose of product' understanding.. I'm also considering:

BUZZRACK E-Scorpion H2 2-Electric Bikes Platform Hitch Rack : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B088NQ24P4/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_3?smid=ANF1HUJOQXQ69&psc=1

yet no ramp for it included, and prior they had they screwed up, so they stopped including.. I'm literally puzzled how ignorant are designers this days...
Could you please include a link to 'upgraded' Thule ramp??? thX!

Here it is.

Thx! I saw it.. because I have Amazon Prime I went with that Scorpion option rack . It is free returns for me if I don't like.. I like to research before putting lots of money... I have an old ramp try to adopt for it.. it just convincing me a little more than Thuly for the price and for the design ...We'll see ... I'll keep people posted here what I have eneded up with if you care..

Totally agree. The 2-bike Thule is beautifully engineered — incredibly lightweight for its rock-solid strength. If the ramp were any longer, it wouldn't stow inside the rack — a trade-off I happily accept.

Yes, it's expensive but totally worth it in my book. The OP shouldn't expect an Amazon rack for half the money to be its equal.

I expect. Short and stip rump is crime, no excuses. You can use telescope like design to compensate for limited room. Besides, who keeps ramp on "rack"? Lol... I don't trust everything written on internet ( as lots of trolling and anti consumer wars are going on between vendors )... it is only you to blame if you did not research especially if you can return product for full refund... Unfortunately, business these days often become low standards and ethics , focusing less on product and it's quality but more on quick and easy profits....I can go on and on... I guess though by now you know what I am talking about... I used three rocks in past so I know the difference... If there was not recaled I would keep the one from Costco... It was nearly identical design at this Thule for 1/3 price! I was using it for nearly 6 months and I just simply l
oved it!!! To bad ...... Therefore I strongly believe that this price is over pumped simply for the label of Thule... If there was around $500 I'd not hesitate... Lots of this big brands assemble those things in Asia... it's a different world... I have a Volvo that keeps breaking down and lots of friends with luxurious cars... they do not what used to be 29 years ago!... with price heavily inflated... Samewhat mentality of manufactures heavely shift into negative, less carting about us customers, and more about profits.... Wakey wakey! it's a different world and it's up to you how you want to spend your money... So do your research..p.s. this rack is also sold by Amazon...

We’ve had an Thule Easyfold for over 3 years now. So far so good, it’s got several thousand miles on it. I added a LED light strip to mine that plugs into the trailer light setup on my truck.

For a thread that started 7 years ago, it still (if not more so) is relevant as step-through bikes with fenders are more and more common.
For my fender-less eMTB's I use and love the 1-UP
For my wife's fendered step-through Specialized Como and my fendered Specialized Vado, the best option (although a PIA to get both bikes set and secured) has been the Thule Easyfold. Have been looking for something more stout that still clamps the downtube like the Easyfold. Have yet to find anything, but threads like this one help.
I have also been researching ways to mount the bikes on a small aluminum motorcycle trailer that I have. It uses a wheel chock to hold the front wheel and then tie-down straps to secure, but I haven't found a wheel chock for the narrower front tire of a e-bike.

Exactly why we bought the Thule EasyFold in the first place. Our first ebikes were 70 lb step-thrus with fenders and external batteries, identical except for color and battery size:

Took a while to figure out how to get both on the rack at once, but the result was sturdy and secure.

The clamps ended up on the gussets above the bottom brackets.

Now that we have a fenderless 50 lb step-thru and a fendered 38 lb high-step, both with internal batteries, the clamps go on the down tubes. No need for the ramp with these much lighter bikes.

As before, getting the pedals to cooperate is the challenge.

"Different strokes for different folks". For me a ramp is a must despite my Cannondale Resort X step over ebike with battery weighing ~ 53LB. My carpal tunnel syndrome screams for it... Stay safe!

Our 2 bikes, Aventon and Bulls, weigh a combined 132(ish) pounds, which puts them a whisker above the 130# limit of the Easy Fold. We went with the Hollywood Destination rack, it has a 140# capacity, and a ramp.
