Throttles and California

So Oregon has banned throttles as well, is this likely to spread across the US?
Actually there was a pretty good fight against PFB's lobbying for the Class laws in OR but the legislature finally caved and the laws follow the 3 class laws now which does permit for throttles on Class II ebikes. However I don't agree with the way the law reads as it expects that they are then used exclusively if on a Class II eBike. Plenty do abuse them but to those that don't they are a useful part of the system.

What the law I posted is about is whether Class III eBikes are allowed on bike lanes, path's and sidewalks which already is written into the Class laws prohibiting their use.

The thing to do is to import Hattians for animal control after the LA fires. I live in an egg producing town where at one point we had a chicken pharmacy and a bunch of hatcheries. Avian flu has wiped out flocks and it takes about three months to bring back production and it is not impacted by Executive Order. Chickens thrived in our moderate climate with cool nights in the Summer. Back to throttles: We were looking at a Velotrec today. They are sold and labeled as class 2. There is no documentation on how to change that. But by pressing some buttons in a certain order and lengths of times and by going into sub-menus it is posable to unrestricted one, all though it is worded differently than that as a double negative in the sub-menu. Mr. T. is full of BS.

'You get the politicians you deserve'.

Once the politicians realise you will believe the poop they tell you by simply shape shifting to fit your simplistic notion of honesty.
You will be served it on a daily basis.

The book cover you never knew you had to see.
They present an insight into subjects of local and nation importance that some person or group decided was important enough to publish, and it is slowly being lost, there are still a lot of youtubers making videos about minor historical events and get barely any views, but are a bazillion times more important than MrBeast fills a canyon with golf balls.

This was always an inclusive place. It has places of worship of one kind or another on every other block and they all get along together. Woman's rights were upheld and families honored, as well as learning and education. These founding people arrived by sea. In contrast a close community Guerneville was founded by only men who arrived by land from the South. They lived in the forest, wore denim and leather and liked the company of other men, fighting and drinking. Now it is a gay resort town. This has also always been a cycling town, as well as social and inclusive.

Wonderful read for anyone into cycling!

As an American, I sadly agree with this. We unfortunately care more about being entertained, then we do about knowing reality. The constant arguing about egg prices under the last administration never once mentioned bird flu, always blame the administration. We don't bother to think more than what's in front of our faces. And unfortunately it means we vote on emotion rather than logic

Homer Simpson..
It takes two to lie Marge.
One to lie and one to listen

No shortage of liars or good listeners these days.

Shortly before his death in 1996, Carl Sagan gave a long live interview on KQED, a Bay Area public radio station. When asked to pick the final topic, something really important that hadn't been covered, he chose critical thinking — basically the opposite of blind faith.

To paraphrase, he said that schools no longer teach it, society no longer encourages or even values it, and fewer and fewer either practice it in their own lives or expect it from their leaders. And in a world that's only getting more complicated and dangerous by the minute, that's gonna come back and bite us big time. Because blind faith has never been a good way to tackle tricky problems with big real-world consequences.

Well, Sagan saw it coming in 1995, and now it's here. Consider us bitten.

The demon haunted world.
But strangely Contact was a recognition of the crossover of belief and science.
I watched it with a religious girlfriend who knew nothing of science or space travel, but she was mesmerised by it and actually got the message long before I did.

She was laughing that she was Palmer and I was Ellie, and that did make me think.
I guess the last scene was a nod to the state deciding we dont need to know the truth.

Now it is the eBike cargo moms leading the charge. On topic, a cargo mom will generally want a bike with enough pull to take two kids up a hill and to go over 20 sometimes as a 90% of the time car replacement around town. She will also most often want a throttle to get out of a jam or to turn the bike around by putting her foot down as a pivot, not having to lift the thing. Cargo moms are the best. The ill thought out law is an attack on them. The best of the best.

That's undoubtedly a whiskey flask she's drinking from. 😄

That third mom in jeans is on a Specialized Globe Haul LT (long tail). Last week the company sent out a firmware update to dealers in California to limit moms so they cannot pedal over 20 if the bike also has a throttle to get her out of a sketchy safety situation. Do you want the latest upgrade?
