Throttle Quit

I purchased a 604 about 3 years ago. Love the bike. I've ridden less that 1k miles but regrettably one day when I took it out for a ride the throttle wouldn't work. There were no obvious problems like disconnections etc. So after not seeing anything conspicuous I ordered a new throttle but it did not work either.
The bike is now at a bike shop for a seasonal tuneup but they declined to get involved with a diagnoses or repair because they work only on the bikes that they sell (Trek etc.) which do not use Bafang hardware. At this point I'm just seeking some opinions or hopefully some suggested fixes that a "handy" guy like me can take on.
I've enclosed a pic of the throttle unit.

Sounds like there could be a connection error somewhere between the controller and the throttle. Worst case scenario, you may need a new controller. You can message me directly or call me on our support line(1 844 328 2453) and we can try to come up with a solution.
