Many, many many people are addicted to the "rush" that anger, fear and hatred give them, and "news" that triggers and amplifies that rush is sought out, like any addict seeks out the substance which will provide their desired feeling. And, just like any addict, there's a nearly impenetrable wall of denial preventing the addicted from acknowledging to themselves how terribly destructive the "substance" they feed on is, and how the pursuit of their rush will destroy them in the end.
There is also the Us Vs Them, Self-righteous indignation, and the Madness of Crowds. The European guy with the silly moustache was a master at taping it to that demonic power in the 1930's. It feels so good. It is addictive and self-destructive. The guy with the silly combover taped into that same playbook. The more outrageous the claims the greater the appeal to true believers. Fingers point in every direction but to the sanity of being okay, here and now.
Hey, I am going to be on TV today. I was taped being interviewed by a news crew after lunch.

An imperfect analogy, but a very apt one. This problem has been with us a long time-- yellow journalism was a problem long before we had television. But there can be no question that the rage rush from video is far stronger.

It is very difficult to control. For me, I can stay away from video-- I literally never watched or listened to more than a few sentences spoken by what's-his-name-- the used car salesman or whoever with the weird hair. Only as long as it took me to close a window on my browser or get to the volume knob on the car radio.

My own issue is troll-bashing, which won't come as a surprise to any of you. I can slow down, or avoid it completely for weeks on end, but I find it impossible to stop completely. Time for another two-week hiatus.

because I link an article on fox or a link to fox I lie?
You are lying again. You did not link to an article. You linked to a video of a mainstream media television program. This is not some really subtle distinction.

But look at the time-- 10 minutes to 2:00.

Afraid Patricia is right. It is kind of like dope or booze or anything else-- and we already had last call.

Sorry, buddy. Bar's closed.

Perhaps I should have used the word ´constructive´. The unending stream of negativity
only spawns a negative effect. It does less than nothing to alleviate the situation.
You got it. It not only spawns the same effect, they then can peak higher. You have sub-groups within that become alienated as well. For example, we can see that great scorn and pressure and costs are piled on both climate deniers and antivaxxers. The existence of this compound target group, did not necessarily cause any real disturbances. One side constantly urges to put "The Other" on ignore.
Until covid.
Now people that didn't know they were an antivaxxer find out they are. That is what they are accused of even if they took twenty flu shots already in their life.
Then what happens is they see through the fog.

Who knew there were so many antivaxxers that had to be punished or well rewarded to take a jab?

That's how the name-calling group has splintered and left confused former supporters who are only now figuring out how they have been used.

But unless you didn't look at all, not even at the screen, you also imbibed.
This happens to me all the time. I post any article or video that supports what I'm saying or adds some knowledge. That means sometimes I do read or listen to every word, sometimes I don't have to. I particularly like to use opposition sources because it causes the other side to have a problem with their own side. For example, cheating in research.
The climate denier side very very rarely can get anything published because of enormous pressure on journals and editors.
Therefor, all the bad science is on your side...

C'est domage.

The us versus them (xenophobia) has always been a tool of autocrats and demagogues…and particularly in attacks on the press like we have been seeing for the last five years. Hearst might have invented ‘yellow journalism’ but the electronic version today is far more dangerous. The Media in general is a term of derision by tyrants to water down truth. The real pro’s in both TV and periodicals are professionals to the core and should be applauded for their courage in the face of threats like CNN’s Acosta took regularly from the terrorist in chief DJT. One learns as they read over time who can be believed just like with individual friends…some you may like but accurately gauge as unreliable. Unfortunately too many don’t read and only tune in to those that confirm their bias’. We are in a pivotal time in America and our democracy is as fragile as our climate…both under fire from the same forces.

What I love Is the psychology of the split screen with 4 people staring at you. Being outnumbered,
One instinctively & unconsciously needs to agree with them. The sub-lim stuff they pull with ads
is truly sinister! With the exception of bicycles in the background of course.

So you have this name-calling group of people who are trying hard to conform and not be "Othered".
They took 3 shots but after catching the coof twice, enthusiasm begins to fade ...
....are being told to prepare for their child always having to be masked but only for 8 hours a day for school. Plus when going out.
....and that is how they became climate deniers even if they had 3 vaxxes so far.

Let's say you break a leg. And, hospitals are overwhelmed by irresponsible people who have not done the adult thing. This is me on the news today. I am the second person interviewed. I am not one of the unhappy. Realistic.

So in 2 years you that make art compuslory haven't managed to put in a darn field hospital. Who would have thought ?

Just figure. What is the average wealth per household in a place like Petaluma and surrounds. And they have refused to get busy and protect their vulnerable by putting a field hospital into a closed school.

I’ve heard of cancer operations being cancelled. Anti-vaxxers for many years have been labeled ‘freeloaders’ for good reason. Public health trumps juvenile recalcitrance.
Public health SHOULD trump juvenile recalcitrance, but in today's America, it definitely does not.

I sometimes wonder if all our efforts are making it worse by creating a more deadly virus as new varients
emerge. It is fortune that pills now have emerged for treament. Odd? You´d think they´ve looked for one
first.

Yes But no. Everyone had to be vaxxed and vaxxed to stop killing Granny. What monsters, what selfish stupid monsters they were to want to kill Granny. What should society do with people like that? Even if they live in a cabin in the woods, should they really be able to go into a town to buy stuff when they are so selfish as to be Granny killers? Shouldn't they have an ankle bracelet or be put in a camp for the safely of good society?

But wouldn’t it be cheaper simply to refuse medical services to people that aren’t or weren’t vaccinated ? Then they could spend a modest amount of money to build an antivaxxer cemetery with vertical plots 🤣. And top the plot off with a tree 🌳 for good measure!

BUT WHAT IF THEY DON'T DIE????

BUT WHAT IF THEY DON'T DIE????
Then they’ll repeatedly get infected, each time gathering a bit more brain fog. Eventually they’ll become compliant but ignorant beasts, whom we can program to do physical labor in colonies segregated from the healthy ones. For example in Sonoma County there’s a lot of grapes that could be picked. They could also be used to construct fire breaks or clear shrubs and trees from proximity to high voltage power lines. Things like that. It’s the way of the future.

I guess so. As a Vaxx Denier I was stupid enough to forget that deer, dogs, mice, cats, and bears have it too. Mink, fisher, ermine, ferret.........pangolin....

....just not bats. hmmmm?

I'm thinking if we had all gotten vaccinated in the first place, and had provided adequate vaccinations to the rest of the world, this virus would not have had the chance to mutate like it has done. It was a massive vaccination effort - and massive vaccination compliance - that knocked out the polio virus. If we had vaccinated then like we're doing now, we'd have had to deal with multiple mutations and iterations and waves of polio, too, instead of eradicating the threat of it.

No, Patrica, just no. The people you trust had the actually originating researchers cancelled from public life.
The people who knew the most from years before this, they were telling you right away that the vaccines were not sterilizing or neutralizing vaccines and that escape variants would emerge from any such generalized vaccination during a pandemic.
