The Green Room

A young woman just moved to my town from Japan last week. She wants to 'Walden it' for a year to see if she can save the $10,000 annual costs of driving a car for one year. And she is committed to living Green. I introduced her to a group of local activist and took her on a group ride last Friday. Now she has friends. I also helped her get a bike, working with the manufacturer and a local distributor/dealer. I also obtained touch up paint so she can make the zip ties vanish. She wanted something Zen were the tech is invisible. I made it electric today. She works for a medical devices company and commutes three miles each way. Her new bike is Class 3. Zen Garden bike? I love the matching rims.

@ChezCheese:) This link is for you. Forests as an example of holobiants ... cooperative organisms where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.
And it's not Russian. Not American either, but more readable than the Russian research.

More on how forests make a biotic pump from Scientific American ... this one isn't quite as woo-woo.

What up guys. I'm trying to be "Green "
I charge my ebike with solar energy.

But New Year's Eve the neighbourhood had fireworks show that lasted for 3hrs.

Any way my nephew flew a drone over my roof top and found lots of debris on the solar panel system. $ 500 buck he cleared it all. He showed me videos from his iPhone but I don't know how to share videos with my android galaxy.
Debris from the fireworks or just normal dust and dirt ?

Looks like good chaotic fun!

We were advised to (pay the installer to) clean the panels every 6 months. Your milage may vary but I find that a bit over the top. At a good few hundred a clean it'd also zero out any feed in tarrif the panels are generating.

Regular rain does an adequate job of keeping ours at full generating capacity. If you lived next to an open mine, bird nesting area or bat colony things might be different.

I try and get up on the roof annually to give them a good scrub down with a brush hose. It's more to dislodge any lichen that might be taking hold.

You ever hear of 'Silvaculture? plant once basically be able to nourish off forever?( except for the "annuals' of course) I read there were 2000 year old Hazelnut bushes in one local, that only required cutting back occasionally, its such an interesting trip( makes you see the logic of the "Garden of Eden".

Seneca taught me how not to be risk adverse. Embrace mistakes, letting them be your teachers and writing them off. When he would send off one of his ships to India to trade for pepper he would write it off as a total loss when it launched. If it retuned then that would be a windfall. That was the nature of his stoicism and very different that how we use the term when we call someone stoic. His pupil Nero was a pathological narcissist. As Emperor he would travel to stadiums and have solders fill them under pain of death. Then he would sing, but he couldn't sing. It was like a tone deaf Tiny Tim for hours. And the people were made to cheer and give him ovations but those who didn't were killed. Nero's mom was adept a murder. Sane Seneca tried to be a moderating influence to the royal insanity. Like an advisor to Trump, that ended badly.

Discovered this guy while checking the latest Not Just Bikes last night:

He's lying to you though. You just do not know enough to know he's lying to you. For example, he says that every scientific organization agrees. And that they are just scientists in their labs. That is a lie. The societies mostly did it by executive decision they did not poll their members at all, and the execs knew exactly what would happen if they did not agree.
Check them out and see how agreement was obtained.
You've been taken by a liar. If you enjoy his videos, great - just know that he's lying to you again and again. If you want more examples, I know I can find his deceptions in every video he made, because he's seemingly a compulsive liar.

@Gordon71, I get what you are saying! "Bezos lacks humility and thinks he is an immortal deity." He is egging on the egg throwers of Rotterdam by using his supernatural powers of hubris and will be mocked and made into the joke he has become. Maybe he will start singing like Nero.
