Link to article. A guy wanted to test the range of his Tesoro Automatiq and ended up riding to Chamonix on one charge. PowerTube 800. Of course, they don't sell it in the USA.

Me too. It's Stromer/R&M class. I would think that there would be a market for it in the USA, especially where I live. I built two Tesoro X1's last week for a local couple. They were asking about the range extender.

I can bet the man used minimum assistance, and it was his own leg power mostly. You cannot defy the law of physics. @Yako has tested smaller batteries coming with figures such as 3 metres climb / Wh in the best case. Now, how it is possible to not only climb 1860 m (doable) but also ride for 183 km on 800 Wh (of which only 95% is usable)?

If you only take 183 km and 760 Wh available, it is 4.15 Wh/km, a very very very low figure.

He did the ride at his pace and ended up with 6% left in the main battery. Lights on at all times. I wonder how much the Enviolo affected the range.

He would have an infinite range on the leg power only

I wonder how much the Enviolo affected the range.

As less efficient than the chain, it must have reduced the range.

OK, there is a difference between the moving time and total ride time. Was he pedalling for 7 h 39 min or 10 h 09 min?

So, the article reads 7 h 39 minutes. Komoot indicates the ride time as you said and 18.9 km/h average speed. Taken into account the alpine conditions, it is a very good average speed, indicating a strong rider.

Now, put someone like me: a person that really needs an e-bike. Would I achieve the third of his range?

Marketing, marketing, marketing. I offered my female 38 yo then friend a ride on a Vado SL. She made 130 km using 5% battery. Lighting only

Cannot find it but anyway. The article proves nothing. No word about the rider: age, fitness level. E-bikes are usually not ridden by athletes, so the article is useless

That’s not frank, that’s rude, Stefan. We don’t use that phrase in English unless we’re pretty put off, and I don’t see any cause for that here.

What’s not clear from the article is whether ECO mode was used for the whole ride, or whether the motor was actually off for some of it. I took the wording to mean that he was under power the whole time, but I admit it’s vague.

My point is: Is the e-bike mentioned in the article a range demon, or just a regular heavy Bosch E-Bike with an 800 Wh battery?
