Strap around battery compartment

I've noticed a lot of pics with a Velcro strap around the battery compartment. Is the battery door problematic or are people just doing this a precaution?

Precaution here. Will help keep battery inside compartment in case of spill.Handy when bike is on car rack to keep door closed.

My stromer battery door is rattle free and problem free.. no straps needed. In fact i forget that it's even there!.

I just got my ST1, and I am able to close the door with battery removed, no issue.
