Gazelle Ultimate C380+ Display Batteries

I am getting the message "CHANGE DISPLAY BATTERY" when I power up my Gazelle Ultimate C380+. I found this online and it looks simple enough.

The original Bosch Purion display used on many Gazelle Ultimate C380+ models uses two CR2016 coin cell batteries.
Key Details for Replacing the Display Batteries
    • Battery Type: Two 3V Lithium CR2016 coin/button cells stacked together (positive + side facing up).
    • Power Source: These small watch-style batteries power the computer memory and settings when the bike is off; the screen itself wakes up and runs using the main Bosch PowerTube frame battery when the system is active.
    • When to Change: The screen will display a "CHANGE DISPLAY BATTERY" or low voltage warning.
    • Replacement Steps:
      1. Use a 3mm Allen key to loosen and remove the Purion display unit from your handlebars.
      2. Use a small coin to unscrew the battery compartment cover on the back of the unit.
      3. Take out the old batteries and insert the new CR2016 batteries with the + side pointing up.
      4. Screw the cap back on securely with a coin, reattach the display to the handlebars, and tighten.

If I don't replace them soon enough, I assume that the bike will still work, but I am not sure which settings they are referring to that it saves when it is off.

If the Purion batteries die you'll have to wake the bike up via the battery button. You're correct in how to replace the batteries on the Purion, it's really straightforward, just don't break the battery door, they're pricey.

As for settings, I'm not sure what it's referring to as the "brain" is on the drive unit, not on the display.
