ST5 owners - Can you maintain 28mph for whole battery?

I bit unrelated to OP's question but I will be happy if someone can elaborate. How much of a difference there is between 2 -S modes. Do you feel significantly better acceleration, less lag etc?

How much of a difference there is between 2 -S modes.

Mode {2} is for individual settings, therefore no comparison is possible. The {S} mode does not make your ST5 faster. But it helps you to maintain speed on slight hills and opposite wind.

But on low battery, the (S) - mode is disabled.
Yes, yesterday I experienced the disabled S mode when my battery was in the low 40% range. I was a bit surprised it would become disabled with so much battery life remaining. Perhaps it disables below 50%? When it happened I thought it was a bug in the software until I saw bluecat’s post here.

I will try this when I can but I am almost positive that I can use S mode well below %40. Are you sure it was not because of thermal limit, it is conservative and S mode dials back to 3 when it hits the limit.

I didn't know there is a thermal limit, too. It is possible (likely?) that was the reason as the motor was at 82 degrees Celsius when I got home!
