ST3 turn off headlight

Hi all,

Looking for some advice on how to turn off the headlight on the ST3. I've already unplugged it in the stem. Has anyone installed a headlight on the ST3 with a switch to turn on/off the headlight? I realize the law in Europe is Bike on = Light on. This is not the law in the US and it is very annoying Stromer hard coated this into their build. I've tried the M99 Pro mini E-45 and according to my local dealer this and a switch will not fit the ST3's wiring.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I'm at the point of duct taping a mag lite on the handlebars just so I can control the light.

Hmm, in Europe, motorcycles drive always with light on - not because of the law but because of the health.

If you insist to get rid of your parachute - pardon - your light, check the dutch stromer forum. They do crazy things.

I've been digging all over that forum and can't find any solutions. I've seen several posts complaining about the ST2 light not turning off as well. Most posters on the forum are located in Europe where the law states you have to have a headlight on all the time, unlike the US where you don't have to have one at all, day or night.

Had I known the headlight could not be turned off, I would not have bought the bike until I found a solution that could be implemented the day it was purchased.

Before you cut any wiring to insert a switch: Front and rear lights are together and the high beam switch is controlled from the Stromer firmware. So, cutting somethimg might cause an erron in the system.

Thanks bluecat, appreciate the info. I spoke with Mike at Stromer in San Diego yesterday and he had some recommendations. First he informed me that any 3rd party light that is wired into the battery system runs the risk of a)not working b) shorting out something else c) intermittent troubles with the light itself. The best solution would be to install a headlight on the handlebars that plugs in, via USB, to the on-board USB connector on the front of the frame. These lights usually have a larger batteries, 4400mAh and are easy to charge without removal.

Im going to try and install it dead center where the current headlight is located. Pictures will follow once installed.
