I was wondering what wheel set upgrades would work well. Mainly road surfaces

There are not many things to be replaced on a new Vado.
Of course you can always buy carbon fibre tubeless wheels with proper hubs and transfer the drivetrain on the rear wheel. Why should you do it though?

That's quite expensive for sure. Have you thought a battery range extender instead? I paid £400 for mine through a friend

The full power Vado? Not. Only the spare battery (price of which you wrote earlier) is applicable.

USA not UK but the info might be good. I worked with and bought a carbon rim, tubeless ready wheel set from NOX for my 2021 Vado 5.0. I have over 4.5K on the wheel set and no issues.
Light wheels/less rotating weight is a good performance upgrade, and a well built wheel is a strong wheel. My experience.
