Yea, it's been discussed but can't find definitive answer on any 'specified' chain lube or chain maintenance schedule.

Of course, you can't exactly use that technique on our bikes since turning the crank backwards doesn't run the chain backwards unless you use the tie-wrap trick to attach the crank arm to the chainring...

I just hang my e-bikes on a work-stand and rotate the rear wheel with my hand, Roch. A good work-stand is worth every money (mine is Park Tool PRS 25).

The photo below is rather symbolic; just wanted to indicate I de-grease, wipe, oil and wipe the chain again in my all e-bikes now quite often. I occasionally remove the rear wheel for the cassette cleaning.

I do have a stand, but to be honest, in my current condition there's no way I could get the e-bike up onto it safely. So I usually use it more when I'm doing some additional maintenance that makes looking for help worthwhile.

By the way, I haven't looked that closely at mine, but does the original chain use a quick-link, or is that something you added when you removed/replaced your chain?

Yes, the Quick Link is the part of the chain delivery. Ah, you ask about the original chain? Can't remember!

I checked with my son, the bike component mech engineer. He tells me that he's not aware of any major bike manufacturer that specifies a chain lube or a chain maintenance schedule. He feels that the lube selection is very much a function of riding style (slower rec rides, hill climbing...) and conditions (wet, dusty...) so the manufacturers are leaving it up to the rider to discuss this with their LBS, or do their own research. Same for the chain maintenance and the choice of replacement chains.

Yep, Finish Line is probably one of the highest regarded chain lubes. I lube usually every 50-100 miles, I'm in Southern California so I use Finish Line's Dry lube lube.

NFS is the best chain lube I've used. Takes very little and keeps the drivetrain nice and quiet. Before this, my fave was Rock and Roll Gold Lube.
