My Creo is in the shop again for motor issues. The motor has already been replaced and now the Specialized mech in LG has submitted a warranty replacement for motor number 3. I wonder if they are going to try to charge me for motor number 3.

I expect that a $15,400 bike would not have so many problems. I’ve also had 2 range extender batteries replaced.

Anyone else having issues with their S-Works Creo?
Do I need to sell the Creo and go Trek. The new top Trek road e-bike looks awesome.

Well, that sucks! How many miles did you have on each of your motors before they failed?

You must be a snake bitten person Dazzlah. 19 months on Vado SL (the same motor and system as Creo SL). 4,830 miles ridden, no single issue. Four Range Extender owned, no single issue.
At least your warranty seems to be properly served. But yeah go sell your Creo and buy a Trek.

Are you saying that the Trek will be a better bike?
nobody knows. both specialized and trek have good reputations. the SL motors have been around longer than the TQ motors trek is using on their newest and lightest eBikes.

have you had any explanations for why the motors failed? how did they fail?

i have not had any problems with my creo in 2+ years and many hard miles, including off road.

I'm interested in the new Trek Domane, with the TQ motor, but I don't want to be a beta tester for the TQ company.
2 or 3 years ago TQ brought out their first TQ motor, which was much more powerful, and it had a host of problems. TQ eventually ended up pulling the motor from the market.
I hope TQ has learned from their first try debacle and the new TQ motor will be trouble free.

A number of riders in the senior's group I ride with have had motor failures with their Vados, but Specialized has treated them very fairly. A few have had their motors replaced for free, even though they were long past their warranty's expiry date.

Yes, understood. From what they are telling me it has something to do with the torque sensor. The motor kicks into high output with low input. It would sometimes give me light kicks when I was stopped.

My rides are not super hardcore. No gravel miles, some climbing for sure. One big 2 day ride every September for 130+ miles with 6K of climbing (MS150 Waves to Wine fron SF to Sonoma in California).

All my rides are on Strava. Michael Randazzo, Campbell CA
