Specialized como 4.0 vs cube town sport pro 500?

Hi folks, I live in San Francisco and am looking to buy an ebike to commute to work. I want a comfortable, step thru, upright bike. I already have a road bike for weekend rides, and want a comfy commuter that will get me up and over some of the world’s steepest hills.

I’ve narrowed it down to the following:
Specialized Como 4.0 https://mikesbikes.com/products/20-como-4-0-le?_pos=2&_sid=9a2f39a8d&_ss=r

Cube Sport Pro https://newwheel.net/products/cube-town-sport-hybrid-pro-500

It’s odd that the Cube hasn’t been reviewed on this website. Any thoughts on one vs the other?

Not a mid drive specialist. Actually I know very little. So this leaves me wondering about a 250w motor's ability to climb the expected hills in that area?

Have you ridden this bike or something similar to see what you think?

Yes. I’ve test ridden them and several Gazelle’s (cityzen and medeo) as well. I’ve narrowed it down to these, though the Como 2.0 with 90 newton meters is just as amazing on these hills.

The Como 4.0 is a speed pedelec (28 mph), the cube is a class 1 (20 mph).

Thanks, Freewheelie. I’m not really after speed though. I’m looking for a bike that will get me up and over these steep hills in San Francisco. Was curious as to people’s experience with these bikes, especially the Cube since there are few reviews of them.

I didn't think a was after speed either. 20 mph is fine around the neighborhood. But if I want to commute to my buddy's house across town, 20 mph feels slow to me. I wish I would have bought a 28 mph bike as that would work in all situations.

But speed takes power, and 28 mph requires almost twice that of 18 mph. If you would like to play with the physics of the matter this is a good place to go. https://www.gribble.org/cycling/power_v_speed.html

I have a Vado 6.0 speed pedelec and for me it's not necessarily the speed but torque that I love. It has 90 nm of torque and feels like a rocket on acceleration and also incredibly smooth. Sometimes I deliberately seek out hills just for the thrill. (but nothing like the San Francisco hills!)
Sorry, but I'm not familiar with Cube ebikes.
Looking forward to photo of what you choose.

My wife and I recently each bought a Vado 4.0, which has same drive/battery as the Como. We love them. I’m a big guy and have been able to take the SF, Marin and East Bay hills. The class 1 specialized didn’t cut it on the hills for me. Don’t know anything about the Cube.
