SONDORS is releasing it's first mid-drive EBikes.

The first wave appears to be sold out of Rockstar according to Sondors web site. I see new shipping date of January 2021 for next wave. The LX is listed as sold out. I also checked Cruiser and matte black color in that model is sold out.

Now I'm bummed I didnt pull the trigger yesterday on the last Rockstar (black). Wonder why the next batch wont be available until Jan 2021? Is there anything out there close (MTB dual suspension) with the same features at that 2500 price point?

They may be waiting for customer feedback to route out any issues with the first shipment of bikes?

3 months is not a long time to wait for a peace of mind that comes with a product that’s been reviewed.

You're looking at Jan. if you decide to jump in after the feedback...so more like 6 months. And then you have to trust the reviews.

Question to you Bike experts. Is the Ebike market going to mirror the big screen TV market ie I paid 5000k for a 60 inch plasma in 2006 and 3-5 years later the same 60 inch was 800 bucks?

Just about everyone who walks into my shop looking for a (used) bike is wanting a hybrid i.e. a bike with 700 x 35-40C tires.
700 x 35c is what my Trek hybrid has. Not again. It's fine on smooth roads with no cracks, bumps, etc., but in real use, it's too rough of a ride despite the suspension fork and suspension seat, especially for those resurfaced rural blacktops with a top layer gravel covering, that don't smooth out well for 2 years, only to be resurfaced again. While I don't care to have 4" fat tires, some nice 2.4" to 3" tires would certainly be a major improvement over my 35c's.

One advantage to have a fat bike. You can get a 2nd wheelset. Many up north do this. Winter bike and summer bike with the same bike.

I believe Sondors biz plan is narrow to near zero margins to expand market
:pI guess that disinformation makes buyers more at ease. But where are the facts? If anyone believes ANY eBike builder does it to the benefit of the market rather than themselves...well...I have a good deal on a bridge!

No, he said, "I believe Sondors biz plan is narrow to near zero margins to expand market share." That is to benefit Sondors, not the market.

The Elite series prices are reportedly going to increase with the next round of bikes. It will be interesting to see if there are any improvements.

have a Sondors X on order (can't beat the price)..

The implication is that Sondors is making nothing and the advantage is to the buyer.
"can't beat".

Philanthropic of them! Now about that bridge...

I got a Specialized Turbo Vado 4.0 3 months ago when they were on sale $532 off plus a $532.50 rebate card which I used for a down payment on the Sondors LX. My Vado has a 40T chain ring which is 8 smaller than on the Vado 5.0 with a little more power. The Vado has a 11-42 range and with my 40T chain ring I am in high gear on anything near level ground so I'm sure that 11t is going to get replaced often. I did buy a 46T and a longer chain but haven't put them on yet, of course Specialized has to have a unique set up so it's not a complete easy bolt up.
Well one day later now, I must have jinxed myself with yesterdays comment because I went for a ride today and in high gear the chain kept skipping so I checked it when I got home and that 11T rear looks pretty rough. It may have skipped once yesterday but today it skipped probably 15 times. Probably a good idea to have a 13T or bigger for the lowest gear with the torque that the Bafang puts out.

That would be the highest gear. I would hate to give up an 11T personally.

You make up the loss of the 11T with a larger front chainring if you need the speed. That is not possible for everyone. If you have a cassette, at the first sign of wear, replace it with a new 11T.

A Freewheel?! Stupid, stupid, STUPID. Why? Because a freewheel means a freewheel hub, which with any hard riding mean a bent and eventually broken axle. Elite Class my a**. That is Walmart there. Oh, and I like how the artwork depicts a big 50T cassette and high-end derailleur, instead of the puny 28T freewheel and low-end derailleur.

EDIT: oh, and a twist shifter as well. No performance mountain bike has twist shifters. Not in 30 years, anyway.
