If you go to purchase a new car/ motorcycle , etc...are you more concerned about :

model - price- motors horsepower

or

how loud the horn is, what the floor mats are made of or if the vehicle has 2 cup holders instead of 4 ?

This isn't rocket science...its using logic to understand what usually interests most people to pull them into the product.

Court presents a lot of good info...no one is denying that, it is the order he presents that info , that I feel could be improved upon.

We must also realize that Court weighs 135 lbs...which means he weighs much less then the average grown adult male , that would need to be more concerned about things like....motor wattage , battery capacity.

A ebike that only has a 350 watt motor and 36 volt battery, may work fine for Court, but only because he is extremely underweight when compared to the average adult male that may be looking to purchase a ebike.
 
There will never be just one format that pleases all viewers or readers, some consider a list of features boring and walk away. Others, like yourself @ebikedelight thrive on that order. Court does make a point of a brief overview and then a more thorough description pretty much by each component area, e.g. motor, battery and so on. Reviews, both video and written try to address both the people and lifestyle a particular ebike will potentially work for as well as all the facts. It's not an easy task! Determining the value of an ebike is a subtle chore and sometimes it is those little things (the waterbottle mounts for instance :)) or a particular manufacturer's dedication to customer support take a ho-hum bike to the next level.

A little addendum; Court makes a point that he is light weight (physically!) and that others may not find a certain bike appropriate.
 
@ Court, in fairness I have rebuffed critics who think your review is some part of a wider scheme to destabilise the Sondors Campaign - it was a mistake pure and simple...... born from these facts

1) Sondors initially advertised the bike with a 50 mile range
2) Sondors then added * to the 50 mile range but you had to look hard to find what * referred to - and indeed it was with pedal assist - the advertising continued with 50 mile range* with no mention of *with pedal assist
3) As an unexpected upgrade before the bikes were delivered....... Sondors gave to all donators, without extra charge (see the extra charge for battery shipping which is causing concern)...... the feature of pedal assist on the bikes!

It was a simple mistake and one easily done. I will not make any further comment on it, but people such as Josh who is active on these pages who send me pictures of ebikes with turds and say they are left in the picture for me, and who put the Sondors bike together with the forks reversed, well he has his own Gofundme campaign to raise money so he can be assisted by a bike specialist. http://www.gofundme.com

Once again, it isn't about pleasing EVERYONE. Its about revealing the most important aspects upfront , because it only makes sense that most consumers would be more concerned about motor wattage, then the color of the rear reflector.
 
And since Court cant please EVERYONE, he is pleasing the ones he wants...his review, his site. With all these posts he has heard opinions and has a chance to incorporate or ignore them HIS choice. This ios a full time job for Court, he gets paid for his work. I have not given him any monies, I don't expect him to listen to me as a requirement. I am happy I get to express an opinion , when i do i hope it helps him and is favorable to all but again I wouldnt want him to lose money because of my opinion and that is his choice to follow or ignore or somewhere between.
 
Court did his Court thing... what we've come to expect... Judging by how fast he got rid of this bike... I would guess he would be happier if he never saw one again... Maybe the bike shop he sold it to could do some more testing and post..

I know people who chose their laptop based on the color of the case and others who bought cars because of the brand alone. I would like to be finished with this conversation, I hear you and appreciate the feedback, I understand your style preference and I value that you shared it. At this point, I have heard and digested your input and it may emerge in future reviews but I want to keep the conversation in this thread productive and feel that we are getting a bit off topic.

Just trying to lighten things up... It really does have 12... And I'm not trying to start a review... and we didn't buy the car for the cup holders...

I thought the video review was right on par with Courts other reviews... I was hoping for a more scientific range/road test... but it's not my call. The Sondors is better than I thought it would be... but it's still a cheap Chinese no frills cruiser ebike... What we don't know and maybe we never will... is how many of the bikes that were paid for will be delivered... or if any of the money collected was misspent..

@scmike, no way now how have 6000 bikes been delivered to US donators - we know 0 have been delivered to international donators to date - the bike has to be assembled with a 250W motor and speed restriction to 15.6mph to comply with EU Laws and to make it legal for road use, needs a Cert of Conformity for Switzerland etc. The Court papers mention 10,000 bikes and I agree, we will never know how inflated these figures are tbh.....

Further to another point raised, I sell quite expensive AV gear from Bang & Olufsen - you would be surprised how many purchasers do not care what the speakers sound like or how images are displayed on screen, they wish to buy for other reasons or are interested in aesthetic details and I am sure this is true of some ebike purchasers as well. (I had to shut down the reviews section on my website after it was spammed by members of the Sondors Owners Group, hey ho.)

There was a question posed earlier: why so much drama about a $500 - $800 bike compared to, say, a $3000 bike?

Because it's cheaper and because it involved crowdfunding it attracted a lot more people at one time. And with more people comes a larger percentage of crazy and crazy attracts crazy, especially on the Interwebs. When all is said and done there are probably less than half a dozen rabidly jealous people for whom this campaign triggered an obsession, with accompanying emotions far beyond the bike or the campaign. Ironically, most of the obsessed aren't funders expecting a bike, though there are a few. It doesn't matter that the bike is turning out to be okay for the most part, obsessions are not based on rationality and don't respond to logic. The way you know that is the obsessed just digs in even deeper because keeping the obsession going is the point, deep down.

There's a great saying I heard a long time ago and it's become one of my favorites: "When you see crazy coming, cross the street!"

I read the comments, thanks for pointing that page out!. But I'm going to post my response to them in the Sondors Fact-finding thread because I don't want to hijack Court's review thread.
