The Abus Bordo lock that R&M supplies with their bikes seems no longer classified with a Sold Secure Gold certification due, I understand, to the ease and speed that it can be compromised with a nut splitter. When trying to find suitable ebike insurance, the Sold Secure Gold standard was the minimum requirement of most policies so a replacement lock was required that was wide enough to fit around the frame and battery and could be easily mounted.
The lock I found was the Onguard Pitbull LS 8002 Long Shackle Bike U-Lock
All you need to fit this to the rear rack of your bike is 4 very large cable ties which are not used to attach the lock to the frame but simply used to locate the lock centrally under the rack - see photos. The rubber rack strap is then passed under the front end of the lock and clipped to its usual position.
The cable ties need to be pulled very tight to stop any rotation and once fitted the lock is very secure as it is effectively wedged into the rear of the rack and the plus is that it allows the rack to be used as normal including the use of a MIK capable bag.
