SOLVED! Best controller for a 8Fun (Bafang?) 250w 36v "SYXD01F" for my Faraday?

I got my 48v water-bottle battery ($172 @ Amazon), drilled holes for the cage, soldiered up the power cable and it all lit up, motor started spinning with pedal action!

That's a very reasonable amount of money to spend, and it looks nice to me. So the controller box is on the end, in the third picture. Interesting the way they did that. It does sort of show that a lot of ebikes can be adapted, often pretty simply. Down the road, there are other front hubs and other controllers... Nice of you to come back and share. Very Christmassy.

QUESTION - please review the functions of my resurrected Faraday - is this how it should be working?
My concern is the throttle setting does not seem to matter, and despite 50 volts at the pack (after an 8 mile ride), its still feels
sort of slow and barely assistive...
