Smartphone hub app through Kiox?

What would it take to enable the the smartphone hub mobile app to work through the Kiox usb port? Depending on Bosch's implementation of USB on the Kiox, hope this is possible through a firmware update. This is more a request to Bosch engineers than a discussion of whether its possible, like I said, depends on the USB implementation.

Hi Steve,

I have started a thread in the Bosch forum specifically to suggest improvements to Bosch.

You may wish to reference there and copy to the Bosch thread.

I used the new navigation system yesterday on a 75k ride. I eventually switched back to Komoot on my smartphone for the following reasons:

  • The screen map display lags, especially when going fast. I missed so many turns because the directions on screen didn't keep up
  • Crashing Bosch Connect app: After an hour the app crashed on my iPhone X. I lost past of my journey data and navigation
  • Lacks detail: A single line is very difficult to interpret when city riding. There are so many road types and paths that are all shown as one line
  • Poor Bosh Connect app route planning: The route-plan (central London to home) was terrible. It was like a drunk had chosen the route. Komoot or Google maps (cycle) is vastly superior. If you have a Komoot subscription you can see your routes in the Connect app which savest the day.
Having said that. there are some reasons to use the Bosch Connect app with the Kiox navigation display:
  • If you didn't have Komoot installed or disliked the way Google maps displays navigation – it's not perfect for cyclists
  • You want to save your smartphone running out of battery
  • You are happy with a simple display and keeping your phone safe in your bag
