today's ride was planned to be longish, but in theory i did not get started soon enough..lol but the weather was great and i had been shown an off-road route from Brandon to Sunderland bridge about 3 weeks ago so thought it wise to re-visit to make sure i had it in my memory banks correct (it's an AGE thing).
it turns out i am not as senile as i thought, on reaching the bridge which used to be the old A1 i got talking to 2 guys also on e-bikes from Spennymoor... after a good natter re each other's bikes off they went , taken a sharp right alongside the river via a bridleway... so off down it i went just to see where it came out at, and would you know it was on my intended route but missing out the section of the A167 result^_^.
we all made our way thorough Tudhoe Village it was suggested a pit stop for a pint at the Green tree where the guys paid for my pint ... there are still good people about. home was via the Auckland way -Gurney villa -Eldon then Aycliffe, sometimes a best rides are not planned.... only 33 miles but good miles https://www.strava.com/activities/7844036366

Spent a week at the local fishing hole, fishing and biking the back country in the rim rock hìlls. The new bike carrier handled the job like a champ, 260 miles of 4x4 roads etc, bike was solid thru all this traveling, very pleased with this carrier and the way it carries the bike with 4 - 1200lbs ratchet straps holding all down.

Pulled up and started unloading the WH, was the only camp here for 4+ days, nice temps and weather.

Here is a wide view of the 20 acres of fishable water, stock last year with Cuttbows and Rainbows trout. Wife in the yellow kayak and her white chair on one of the spring heads, lots of flies hatching and the trout are going crazy,

The better half with about 2 hrs fishing time, using flies, all average over 16+ ",
only allowed 5 per day. Note, I also caught 5, and the better half and her close friend eat 5 fish per person............We both caught and release 10-15 per day, keeping enough for dinner. We bought home a total of 15 average fish..........had a great time and some rough riding the bike thru the rocks.

Looking down the road toward the fishing hole, I am about 1/2 mile above the camp site, heading for the rim rock etc. Everything from camp is UP hill through lots of Lava Rock Steps/rims etc. Looks like smoke coming over the hill, wife on the water catching dinner, I don't eat fish, unless smoked, I just catch them for the fun of it, fly fishing.

This is how I use the ratchet straps to secure the WH Bike,
right to see and enlarge, the no hook ratchet straps around the wheels.
makes for a very secure transport.
Tia,
Don

Here's my typical commute to work. Da Ridiculous Bike is not just for recreational rides anymore it has taken the role of a work bike, giving my old trusty Tacoma and Da Bull a rest. Four months of ownership and it's nearing 1000 miles.
A view of Pearl Ridge looking across West Loch, Pearl Harbor on a bright sun shiny afternoon.

There are four sugar mills that were made back in the days when Hawaii was one of main producers of raw sugar.
#1 Waialua Mill #2 Kahuku Mill #3 Ewa Mill and #4 Waipahu Mill ( My home town). All four have now been modernized for community use.
This one for example the mural is the same barn but better. Ewa Mill.

Yesterday's ride was to go check if Pumpkin 🎃 Harvest is a go. There was also an E mobility show that I included in my route. I also wanted to see and photograph a new 3.7 mile stretch of multimodal pathways under construction.
Concrete foundations are installed for lighting.
E mobility show's outcome didn't attract too many interest as you can see from the pictures. I demo ride rocky mountain emtb in parking lot just for the f*ck of it and yea it's perky little engine is similar to my quite Brose but more torque. Those 3 wheeled e mobility scooters will be allowed on our local multimodal path.
Pumpkin Harvest Festival is NO GO.
This time of year Pumpkin 🎃 should be size of cantaloupe already.

Thanks for sharing and enlightening us with that bit of history. I imagine things looked a lot different back then during those bustling times when most of the land was likely covered in cane fields.

Yea Oahu Railway and Land Company use to have Railway that service the Island.
We are making it to a bike path.
FYI Google Oahu Rail and Land Company.

Today’s ride saw us take a slightly different rural route it but yielded much the same results. The prairie landscape is certainly a far cry from the Cdn Rockies but nevertheless it was a very pleasant fall day to be out and about in the countryside.
