I have been given conflicting advice at bike stores and by experienced cyclists. Any opinion here on ridged seat posts vs smooth ones for stability with a seat post rack?
I have tried both and can't see much difference in lateral stability, though the ridged seat posts, such as a Thomson Elite 250, has more resistance to being pushed down into the seat tube, but resists twisting of the Topeak QR Seatpost rack no better than a smooth seat post.
