Rockshox Monarch RL... Doesn't fully extend?

Not sure what you got there... but doesn't the bolt need to be this flavor?

I saw them too, but I'm kinda biased against them because they always got mangled on my rollerblades.
The internal threads would always mushrooms out and get jammed in the bearings.

I'll probably buy them too though. 😁

I've got something special going on because of the bearings in my suspension,..

It's got "shoulder washers" so the inner race of the bearing doesn't bind on the outer race,..

And the outer diameter fits into the suspension housing to help keep crap out of the bearing,.. (although they are sealed)

I'll just start with ordering the proper bolts like you posted.

And the spacers might need those special washers or have a shoulder on them?

Why can't you use the old bolts?
And looking at the sleeve hardware you ordered the OD is 12.7mm.
If your DNM arrives like mine the eyelet bushing is 12mm

Well, I screwed up,..

I can use the old bolts, but I bought the wrong size sleeve hardware/bushing.
And I can't reuse all my old sleeve hardware because the DNM eyelets are 12mm.

I was getting the ID, OD, and the length all mixed up.

I'm just going wait for the shock to arrive and see what I've got.

I've got this dimension to consider as well,..

The bottom of my shock has a normal bushing, but the top of my shock is mounted to bearings with those special washers, so that affects the length and spacing of the bushing as well.

If I convert everything to 8mm, then I'd need some sort of spacer to take up the slack in my 10mm frame mount holes.

If you read the negative reviews about DNM shocks many of them are that they received it and then realized they use different hardware then what they had. Really not fair as it seems some Fox hardware is different then Rockshox. On my old bike it was all the same and I only had to file down the two plastic spacers as the eyelets were a little thicker and that was a KN shock. On my RockShox now the only difference was the 12mm from 12.7mm bolt sleeve which is easy to remedy and the seller had them.... well that and that my overall legnth is 30mm and no one had the sleeve in that legnth so I'll have to file them down from 32mm.
My stock Rockshox 12.7mm sleeves were filed down as well on original assembly.

Well, that sucks.
The DNM shock was an impulse buy. I bought it within an hour of you posting about it. 😄

Perhaps I can find a seller that has the bushings I need?
Voltbike sells the Monarch shock, and I may be able to get the bushing hardware through them, but even that is 12.7mm not the 12mm that I will need.

My suspension with bearings in the pivots makes it kinda rare I guess?

Either way, if I had to do anything to make something fit, I'd rather try to shave it down to fit instead of trying to make a shim.

A shim for the 8mm bolt to increase it to 10mm would be really hard to source or fabricate.
And it would have to be about thickness of my bearings.
Maybe I can source a bearing shim?
Or maybe new bearings with 8mm ID instead of 10mm?

I fell into a 🐇 hole.
I should just return the shock. 😄

One other possibility is the shocks come with bushings pressed into the eyelet. Maybe you can find eyelet bushings for the DNM that have an ID of 12.7mm. I'll look at mine later and let you know what I see. The bushings are easy to press out and are part of the Rockshox 100hr maintenance.
Also you can try reaching out to DNM thru their website. I did prior to purchase and asked about the differences in their shocks and they were very responsive.

I don't want to risk messing up my Monarch shock so I don't want to press out the bushings to see what I've got.

And I don't trust my caliper to measure less than a mm accurately enough.

The bushings are easy to press out and are part of the Rockshox 100hr maintenance.

I managed to get my can off with my 22mm wide bushing, and I don't think that I'd need to remove the upper bushing to do any service either?

That sounds like a good idea.

Well, those look promising,..

So a shim pressed onto the bushing to take up the extra space in the shock eyelet?
That makes sense.

I'd really like to keep the 10mm bolt size.
Messing with shims on a 8mm bolt to fit my frame holes, just seems really wrong to me.
The frame mounting holes are aluminum too.

Your link sent me to this picture,..

That's a cool tool !!!
I want one !!

I was going to use bolts and deep sockets and woulda made a mess.

Ten bucks !!

I'm going to wait until my shock arrives though.

I'm still have my numbers all mixed up.

Ohh,.. Now I get it !!

Use eylet bushings as spacers !!

That aughta work !!

And, I can make "shoulder washers" by stacking two washers on top of each other,..

There's not really any lateral pressure on the whole bushing/bearing assemblies. They just have to be semi-snug but allow rotational movement.

Well hold on... Not sure you'll find the size needed. Both Rockshox and DNM have bushings in the eyelet from the factory to protect the eyelet. This way when it wears you just change the bushing.
Initial search tells me..
Rockshox is 15mm OD to 12.7mm ID
DNM is the 14mm OD to 12mm ID.
The overall legnth seems different as well.

I'll look at mine later to know what I have.

Yeah, I'm not buying anything else until my shock arrives (a couple weeks)

But it's looks promising that I can MacGyver something to fit, even stacking some spacers together?

I'll look at mine later to know what I have.

Thanks !!
I really don't want to press my bushings off my Monarch to measure what's underneath, especially when I don't trust my caliper.

OK... measured and as I ASSumed.
Monarch is 15mm eyelet without bushing.
DNM is 14mm
You can measure accurately enough just viewing the profile.
I doubt you will find the needed bushing as it would be kinda thin with a 0.65mm wall thickness.
I guess one hack would be to sand it from 12mm to 12.7mm. 😝
Give DNM a shout as they might know what hardware is available.
