That’s exactly why I am doing this. Next. I need gaskets. Because, in my long history of motorcycle repairs, you must have Gaskets.plus I live in the sticks. Great riding. Perfect really. But you must be self sufficient to live here.
I haven't read about any gaskets, but I WOULD expect to see some sort of sealant. Maybe silicone? Assembled dry wouldn't surprise me here for close tolerance machine parts like this. The problem there would be the grease wicking through. Anyway, I would seal it somehow on reassembly.
Self sufficient here too, but it's because I refuse to trust thing just like this to amateurs. I do all my own work on everything, and have been doing that my entire lifetime, so have built up a TON of experience over the years. Very little will put me off anymore....
No. A pic from the net. Im waiting for a crank puller, and trying to source that gasket And the proper grease. My Ultra is quite quiet, so assume it is well greased, but like to check before more serious riding. We get very hot here in summer too so well greased sounds like good preventative maintenance.
Interesting, looks tough. I'd like to see that with a sump and a level of gear oil that the gears rotate in, constantly bathing them in oil when riding. Then you could have a little dip stick to check!!
