Review of my Lectric ONE.

So I'm going to start this as a series so to speak. Right now is first impressions. So here we go!

Arrived in a box that showed no external damage. I unpacked it, set it up and noticed the rear fender/rack assembly rubs on the top portion of the tire. I loosed everything up and beat on it with a dead blow hammer. I banged, twisted, manhandled the rear fender assembly and got it "good enough" for now. Something still rubs when I first start off but it quickly stops. I might pull the whole rear rack and fender off and try again, but I need to download the belt app so I can set the tension.

I never really cared for the quick connect pedals. The quality is not the issue but I can feel a little bit of play so I swapped the pedals out with some normal pedals. Don't worry, I'll post pictures later. Anyways, if you use the click in pedals make sure the the bosses in the cracks are tight! When I went to loosen the old pedals they had almost zero resistance! A tad past wimpy hand tight(ish)! So check those pedal bosses!

I farted around the block after checking ALL the fasteners and it rides really nice. No weird noises (except the rear tire rubbing at start takeoff) and the Pinion is weird. You can't hear the beep when you are maxed out in either gear but so far I like the 6 speed spread. It reminds me of my beloved Nexus hubs.

Lets see, what else? I ordered the cheap pogo post from Lectric, the comfort package. The seat post uses no shims! Its the correct size for the frame. I like cheap pogo post. I had to mount my Foldy Lock under the frame. Both of the top mounting points don't work because there is not enough room to remove the lock from the holder. I might order my little leather mud flaps from etsy. I have them on my Xpedition and the say TWO. If I get some for this ebike they'll say ONE. That's it for now. Pictures to follow and to get some miles on it.
 
This is the other things I forgot! The crank arm hits the kickstand. Very annoying. Oh, and the kickstand is made out of old tin cat food cans. Not the modern aluminum cat food cans, the old thin tin ones. I'm gonna get a Greenfield kickstand and swap this one out before the included one breaks. The XP 3.0 also had a flimsy kickstand but at least it didn't hit the crank arm all the time. My Xpedition kickstand seems to be holding up okay even though I had to tighten it up with some thread-lock.

Lectric includes a Pinion manual in the pedal box but its for the manual version. At least I know how to change the gear oil. Pinion looks easy to deal with, time will tell if I have any issues. I did buy the 2 year extended warranty for $126. I know Lectric stands behind their products but still, a 3 year warranty isn't a bad investment to me.

So if you have slop/play in the clamp portion of your bars check these! All 4 finger tight! And I thought I hit all the fasteners.....

Thanks for sharing! I decided to order, and I'll be sure to test the fasteners.

Yeah, not being able to roll the bike backward with the kickstand down is annoying. I assume it's a result of the awkward weight distribution with battery and motor in the back. (But the standard, easy-to-remove battery was a big selling point, so ... 🤷)

Are you a class 3 rider? If so, how are you finding the cadence at 28MPH? (Although I guess I'll have my own opinions soon enough.)
 
I've yet to unlock it. I'm making sure all the above are fully addressed before going full speed. Don't worry, I'll give a full and detailed review soon enough.
 
So I added some tire liners to the ONE while I'm waiting for the back ordered mirrors. Let me point this out now, the tires are a PITA to install on the ONE! While the Xpedition can be comically easy to mount the tires the ONE is completely opposite. Just getting that last bit of tire over the rim is the absolute worst. Still no ride time, o nly 6 miles on it. This is what I installed. $25 at REI.

This is on top of the 3mm kevlar Hippo Skin tires? (Which is probably part of the reason they are so difficult to bend.) Are those tires not resistant, or you just wanted to be really sure?
 
I've used tire liners on every bike I've owned for the last 35 years, if not longer. I kinda trust the Hippo Skins but as I've discovered with Kenda tires their puncture protection consist of a Laffy Taffy belt, so I'm just being paranoid. My wife and I were coming home from the CVS last Sunday and got a flat on the Xpedition. Thankfully we were a block from the house but I still broke a sweat pushing the Xpedition! I added Mr. Tuffy liners to that ebike as well. I forgot to do the Xpedition and we rode it all over the place on Saturday, far away from the house as well, around 7 miles away far. I got a perfect small hole in the dead center of my Xpedition tire. Have no idea what got me but I suddenly lost pressure.

Oh, interesting observation. The Xpedition has a white "substance" for flat sealant inside the tube. The ONE has neon green Slime colored sealant in it. My replacement Xpedition tube also has a white sealant in it. The white sealant feels more watery than the neon green sealant, and the white sealant didn't even try to plug the hole! When the tire rolled off the rim on the Xpedition mid-turn the tube got a bunch of little pinholes and the rim got scraped up on one side. I just sanded the rim nicks out and Sharpied the rim black again. We didn't go down! I managed to save it! I'm now a certified Xpedition stunt rider.
 
STILL waiting on the bar end mirrors, so the ONE still only has 6 miles on it. I also ordered mud flaps for it. Pictures to come when the flaps arrive. Guess I'll have to download the Gates belt app.

Not sure how you hold back on riding, though. If I had that bike at my house, I'd be spending my weekends outdoors. 😂
 
I've been riding the Xpedition. I still have a weird sound I need to figure out (sounds like a jar of screws when first taking off) on the ONE. I just can't ride a bike without mirrors. But I'm really looking forward to the maiden voyage!
 
Congrats on your new bike! Totally with you on the mirrors, but you're showing superhuman restraint nonetheless.
 
The "new" vendor for the Lectric mirrors SUCK! This is not a camera trick! Horrible fish eye effect. Going in the thrift store bin!

Another fun fact, the Lectric branded handlebar extender is ill fitting. It doesn't fit well no matter how you manipulate the spacers. Plus it gets tangled in all the wires. Might mess with it again later but I don't expect satisfactory results.

Hi Sc00ter, I also have the small basket on my Lectric One. Where did you buy the bag the fits the small basket? I could not see anything on the Lectric web site.

Really like my Lectric one, I also bough the comfort seat with the suspension seat post. The original seat was really uncomfortable. the only things I would change would be a suspension forks and a torque sensor. I wonder if you can retrofit a torque sensor. Any ideas?

The bag is from Rad Power. The top velcro shuts on 3 sides. I'll post a picture (or I already have a good picture from another post?) of the trunk bag. I leave it in full time as it has no handles to carry it like a man purse, or murse. It's pretty waterproof as well. I like the cadence sensor on ebikes so I have no idea if a torque sensor can be retrofitted. I'm still learning the ONE and will post a detailed review on my findings. Congrats on your ONE!

Those look like Temu mirrors, two pairs for $5.99, When you have a half dozen bikes like us, rather use the Temu mirrors when a $16 Mirricycle mirror breaks. The Temu models are available with regular flat mirrors. but that doesn't fix their looseness.

If you're looking for a nice mirror, the Mirricycle works. It's very solid, which contributes to breaking the glass if the bike falls, I've learned to keep them looser.
 
The mirrors are Lectric branded and they seem every bit as durable as my other (way older) set of Lectric bar end mirrors. My original bar end mirrors seem to also have a bit of fish eye effect but not anywhere as bad as the new set. The mirror also sits further into the mirror base on the new bar end mirrors. I guess it's just first world problems, me gripping about mirror clarity. I went out for a 2 mile ride today and got used to the fish eye effect. I just need to know what's sneaking up on me.

2nd the Mirrycle mirrors. All of our ebikes have that brand.
