I'm an ebike junkie with several eMTBs and quasi-road ebikes in my stable. I generally buy prior year models and low mileage demos, and have sold a few of them on Craigslist over the past few years.
I've had good luck so far without needing to pack and ship, and even made riding buds with a few of the buyers. Sometimes the bikes sold immediately, other times it took more than a month.
I'll say this much: it pays to take good care of them! On average I'd guesstimate that I spent $150 per bike on parts, but I saved a bunch by doing most of my own maintenance and repairs.
Here's the rundown:
Biktrix Juggernaut, paid $1300, got $1200 w/200 miles.
Radrover, paid $1500, got $1250 w/250 miles.
iZip Sumo, listed for $3k+, paid $1900, got $1600 w/450 miles.
BH EasyMotion Snow, $3k list, paid $1600, got $1300 w/300 miles.
Haibike rx29, originally $4k, paid $1500, got $1500 w/600 miles.
Haibike FSRX, $4900 in 2014, paid $1800, got $1500 w/250 miles.
Felt LEBOWSKe, $5k list, paid $3k, got $2k with
Haibike Allmtn+, was $4800, paid $2900, got $2300 w/600 miles.
Haibike Allmtn 5.0, MSRP $3700, paid $2200, got $2200 with zero miles.
Motobecane eBoost, paid $3500, got $2750 w/ 700 miles.
Recently someone who wanted the eBoost but wavered too long offered me $3k for my Bulls EStream Evo FS3 ($4800 list, I paid $3300). I told him it has at least 1500 trail miles on it and I recently replaced the suspension (for about $800). Too bad for him, though: I love that bike and am not gonna sell it.
