Any negatives to buying a Bulls older model like Bulls Iconic Evo TR 2 ?

Manufacturers Discounts are very attractive for the Bulls Iconic Evo TR 2. It uses the older gen4 bosch motor with a Kiox display---both discontinued but still for sale new. At $2999. for the Bulls Iconic Evo TR 2, I am tempted to buy one---anyone have any insight about the older bosch generation motor and whether it will be supported? (I ask because Bosch is only doing updates for it newest gen 5 motor, not the older ones). Please share your experience if you have a Bulls.

I don't have a Bulls, but II recently bought a Cannondale with the same battery and motor. Bosch still supports the battery, motor, and Kiox, there's just no new updates for them. If it's under warranty, they will fix or replace it through the manufacturer. I just had a dual battery upgrade done on it, and both Bosch and Cannondale did their part in making it happen. The Kiox I'm not impressed with, but it does what I need it to do. The Performance Speed motor is quite strong. I ride mostly in Mode 1 or Mode 2. The biggest advantage to the Smart System is that you can do your own changes, upgrades, and customizations without taking a trip to the dealer.

I bought a Bulls Iconic Evo 2 speed in the fall. I can highly recommend it! It is much better than my over priced 2019 R+M charger , but not as fun as my Full Suspension Moustache Samedi. I paid more for the other bikes and so the Bulls currently seems like a bargain. The only thing I did to the Bulls hardtail was add a suspension seat post. It is a really nice bike. I like the adjustable stem. But still my advice is the FS Bulls is worth the extra money over the hard tail. Here is a link to the one that I would have bought if they had size 44cm.

I got a Bulls Desert Falcon in the fall at a similar price with the same drive unit. Very good fit and finish, and the gen4 drive unit should be supported for quite a while given that gen5 just came out this spring. Batteries for System 2 bikes might become scarce in a couple years but are still easy to find at the moment.
The biggest risk IMO is that Bosch will turn off the eBike Connect server/app at some point, but even that is probably years away at the soonest.

bulls is not great about warranty issues, they make you go to the manufacturer of whatever part breaks if its not the frame. I have three gen 2 and gen 4 bikes with no usses.
