Some cheap stuff from China using cheap components and being overrated not going to last no how much you baby it. Mostly cheap capacitors failing.
Yup. I had a thermistor and a capacitor overheat and crap out on me,..
I managed to get the part number off the thermisitor and replaced it, but it didn't work, so I smashed the power supply with a hammer to make sure that I didn't waste any more time on a cheap piece of crap.

It is hard today to find some things that are reliable. I hate it when something worked very well and lasted many years yet when you replace with the “same” item it is horrible.
This is my new power supply,..
It's still made in China, but it's from DigiKey in the US where they guarantee their stuff so they don't sell crap.
If something gets returned too often, they stop selling it.
Back in the 1950’s and early 60’s stuff from Japan did not last long. Dad who was in the
My brother-in-law said that you could buy a brand new Honda car (I forgot the model name) for less than $3000 when they were first available in Canada. (In the early 70's I think? during the "Oil Crisis")
It was supposed to be an entry level "disposable" car (kinda like the Hyundai Pony) but it just kept going no matter how badly you abused and neglected it.
The reputation caught on and people started liking Hondas.
Then Honda evolved into a high end car with Acura.
I'm a little younger and don't remember the "Jap Scrap" days.
I always remember Japanese as being quality, especially with electronics like Sony that invented compact disks.
I had the first Sony discman in 1981or 82 that my dad picked up for me in the US for $500 during a trip because it wasn't available in Canada.
That thing just Blew My Fricken Mind !!!
It was just Amazing !!
It was a demonstration model that came with a Huge expensive power supply and a battery pack that used 6 C batteries that were dead in just a few hours. (The laser and drive motors weren't very efficient)
I remember when it was 10 years old and I was "wearing" it (the battery pack had a shoulder strap) and people commented that it was Huge.
They thought it was a cassette player but it was a ten year old portable CD player and they were still impressed with it.
I took a lot of electronics classes in high-school and computer class used Commadore PET computers with a Stunning 64 kilobytes of total computing power.
