Radrover Broken Spokes

Well after 2000KM I finally broke a spoke on my Radrover. I've removed the broken spoke, the wheel isn't too out of true. Two questions for you guys....

  1. How urgent should I get the spoke replaced?
  2. How hard is it to find a spoke of this gauge and size? Would a LBS carry the type I need?

If it's one spoke it is generally not THAT urgent.

I don't know about Rad Power, but my Juiced spokes were very hard to find so I ended up getting one custom made for the proper length.

Damn, I don't like the sound of that. Did you get several made for future breaks?

Replace it soon. Others can break quite rapidly right after, as the tension is no longer evenly distributed.

You can buy spokes from a shop or from an online source if you know how to measure it. Sheldon Brown tells you how. From inside of elbow to end of threads. https://www.sheldonbrown.com/spoke-length.html

Unless you know your spoke gauge, you need a calipers to measued the diameter. Your shop might just take a good spoke for comparison and measure it themselves.

You might be better getting it from Radrover though. Might be hard to get the thicker spokes in the USA. You can get 36 12G or 13G from China in any length for about 30 bucks if you can wait four weeks.

One question would be....... Why is it so hard for rad to stock spokes? Also, what if it was a warranty issue? SOL apparently?
