Question on serial numbered Bafang motors?

I have a question for all of you,

Can a Bafang 620/510 motor be identified if it is a Uart or Canbus protocol,
by using the serial number and the other information that is stamped
on the bottom of the motor?

I bought a WartHog with a Bafang G510 motor in the last days of Dec 2021,
it has the following info stamped on the bottom of the motor >
MM G510.1000.C 12 027F3V3220389
and the second stamped info is,
CR R10M.1000.FC 1.0 A48YJV3053488 48V 30A 1000W

I know this motor is Canbus,
so is the "C" in the above Bold information denotes that this is a Canbus motor?

What does a Uart motor (620/510) have stamped on it?
Would you be willing to provide this information of serial/model information,
for Uart 620/G510 to see the difference?
I have not found much info on Bafang serial number etc.

I have found a 620/510 motor (from a wrecked fat tired bike) that has a this Ultra motor in it,
waiting for the serial number photo to get here, along with other photo's etc.

I HATE this motor and it's workings, as mine is getting worst and worst now etc.
I may have found a work around to this Canbus JUNK.

I don't think anyone will be able to tell you definitively by serial number.
I think your best bet is to check the display connection.

Bafang sucks. They make changes and don’t inform any resellers. We tied for 6 years to get serial numbers we could use o ID changes an versions. They refused to even respond. Unbelievable bu true. A anantasic product but a business run like the Chinese government . Secrecy and arrogance rule their business. Disturbing to me because I love their motors. I’ve had every BBSxx version and still.ride 2014 and 2021 builds.

I can see a "[B]U[/B]" 1.5 on the last 3 letters on the top row,
as per his info it's a Uart motor, but I can't see the bottom numbers
of the second section to see if there is a "[B]U[/B]" in the12th-15th spots etc.

There is a code reader out there somewhere, I remember seeing it,
but I can't find it know, it told you what each letter/number meant etc.

IF we get several more photo's of the info on the bottom of the motors,
maybe we can figure this out.
It would sure be nice to see a direct correlation to the "C" and "U" letters,
to separate and ID these motors,
yes I know you can check the display plugs and find out that info,
BUT what about just a plain motor and no display attached etc.

How can you tell?

Again any serial number correlation is going to be anecdotal as the only true source for this is Bafang and they ain't telliń.

This is coming from a reputable Chinese vendor that has been selling all things Bafang for years.
"How to clasify UART or CAN protocol for your M620 motor? Please check the connector of the display, UART protocol motor is with round connector while CAN protocol motor is with triangle display connector."

If they haven't been to get this information definitively coupled with the @tomjasz experience. . . What do you think this post will produce?

Yes for dating, but no date correlation with versions either. id love to be wrong. Unless someone like Luna with largest sales recorded dates. They were surprised just like everyone else when Bafang made all their unannounced changes to hardware and firmware.

The 510 had different connectors. I deleted most of my support files for the 510. Never owned one and didn’t fell qualified to help users. California eBike May have photos if the still sell the two controller versions. Use their online support form. There were so many problems that Doug and I lost interest in selling and supporting the 510.
The parts stream sucks too.

My only question is this, How do we know??

So far there has been ONLY 3 replies with the information, mine and Mxer photo,
The photo that Grocket supplied IS a UART protocol motor, as it is STAMPED right on the motor and there is a "U" = (Uart?) stamped on the parts sticker,
look at the last 3 digits = U 1.5.

So what's to say, that this MIGHT be a possible code,
all it would require is a good photo of the serial and controller numbers,
to see if this is true or not.
And maybe the parts sticker numbers on the inside of the controller main housing/board, if you have a separate parts controller.

All that is needed is the first 15-17 digit information to see if this follows a pattern.

I do have a new spare motor I'll post a pic of that too I requested UART so hoping that is aswell but being a bare motor who knows??..
 
So we KNOW what the differences are in the display connection. My bet is that the OTHER end of that same 5:1 cable (or 4:1, whatever) is different as well (the one that plugs into the motor). If we know what to look for there (UART vs. CANbus) we could easily identify a motor sitting on a shelf.

I just need the information to get me a Uart motor, I know about the Canbus S**T
and it sucks, I wish I had known about this information BEFORE I bought my bike.

I thought of that myself but don't think it to be the case. If it is the same number of pins, they wouldn't necessarily need to change that end. And since sellers keep referencing the display port... It makes sense that what is coming out of the motor is the same for both systems.

And Don... No matter how many people post pics... any conclusions will still be an assumption. I wouldn't base a purchase on an assumption unless you are willing to gamble.

Here's my unconfirmed spare barebones motor..

I did buy off the shelf UART harness which fits fine, so hopefully it is UART??

Possible that they just changed the male/female orientation? Note the motor end.

Looks like the motor ends will be different then.

Be nice to see a confirmed can bus motor connector if anyone has one?.

It is hard to tell, from the other photo's,
but, I think the motor attachment plug is also a female,
and there is a round Green colored 5 pin plug (display connection) shown also,
which indicates a Uart motor..

And there is a difference to those 2 cables, one is a male and the other is an female, I am talking about the motor attachment ends etc, (get your minds outa the gutter).

I may just have to tear out my motor, and will get photo's to support etc,
as I have a DEEP GROWLING sound from the motor that is getting worse,
and louder, thinking I may have to regrease this motor, if I haven't destroyed it,
less than 350 miles on it.........Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

We still need more photo's to see if there is a pattern etc.

Don, no motor "tear down" necessary. Those connectors should all be under the cover on the left side of the motor. Just a couple of screws hold the cover in place.
