Question on serial numbered Bafang motors?

Possible that they just changed the male/female orientation? Note the motor end.
Take a look here.

There we are. I don't know how much easier we're gonna get

Mxer, Thanks for the photo's,
There is the "U" 1.5 in the top line, so it might be a Uart motor.

It is hard to tell, from the other photo's,
but, I think the motor attachment plug is also a female,
and there is a round Green colored 5 pin plug (display connection) shown also,
which indicates a Uart motor..

G Rocket,
Yes, I know what you are thinking...........LOL
And there is a difference to those 2 cables, one is a male and the other is an female, I am talking about the motor attachment ends etc, (get your minds outa the gutter).

I may just have to tear out my motor, and will get photo's to support etc,
as I have a DEEP GROWLING sound from the motor that is getting worse,
and louder, thinking I may have to regrease this motor, if I haven't destroyed it,
less than 350 miles on it.........Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

We still need more photo's to see if there is a pattern etc.

Tia,
Don
The motor (controller) plugs directly in to the white 8 pin connector on those cables... So basically you are looking at the opposite mating end and can determine from there.

Al Thanks for the info,
Question,
Left side as looking at the bike head on, or as riding it?
Round plate or the long oblong one?
Tia,
Don

Don, no motor "tear down" necessary.
Sounds like it’s needing opening up. There’s so much confusion over these motors. I did see the new owner of California eBike has grown the 510 parts list. But due to customers killing controllers stopped selling them.

Hey Al
Houston we have a problem here,
I removed the long bracket (3 screws), and there was nothing under there
except for the 3 main bolts that hold the motor to the frame. There is a small
slot about 1/8" at the top and I could not see any wiring etc.

Did something change on this G510 motor?

The new CANBUS motors are wireless 🙃

Sorry Don. If you are working on the LEFT/drivers side of the motor, have the cover off, and don't see any wires, I can't be of any further help.

You are bound and determined to jerk on my chain, aren't you.....LOL

Al
There is no wires to be seen under this cover.
I'll attempt a photo, so you ALL can see...........LOL

MX
If you mean using a (torch) = flashlight to look and see,
I DID that,, and there is no wires inside this cover,
there is nothing but the back end of the motor case.

OK Option # 2 is,
I looked at several video's of the G510 motor and removing it from the motor mount,
on all of them, (one was a Uart motor via the serial number)
showed a bunch of wires under this cover of this Frey bike.

This information does NOT seem to follow true with the Warthog MD 750 bike,
with a Canbus motor, I have. I am beginning to have my doubts.....................LOL

Your thoughts and suggestions
Don

They make changes and don’t inform any resellers.
I think its worse than that. They seem to make changes based on whatever they had to use to complete a given production run. As in whatever they had on a shelf to use they grabbed it and put it inside (at the chip level). In addition to the myriad quirks I have seen over the years in the BBSHDs (nothing compared to what @tomjasz has seen) I have seen the same thing with the G060 hub motors, where we had people buying aftermarket motors that were inexplicably bricked by known good settings - until people were able to figure out that some batches of motors used different settings which we were eventually at least able to document - and they switched around for no apparent reason and with no discernible pattern or duration. My twin-hub 2wd bike has two G060's and they run with two different underlying sets of settings. One set will brick the other motor. One motor has different output curves than the other. TGhey are identical looking at the two of them on the outside. Only difference is a different increment on the numeric portion of the SN string.
We still need more photo's to see if there is a pattern etc.
yeesh I see lots of time thrown down a rabbit hole in your future.

Since you guys lead me out onto this limb.........LOL
I guess I'll get my self off it, as I need to regrease my motor.

How about some information on the required tools needed to remove the,
Bafang G510/620 crank arms and the socket that takes off the multi notched ring,
on the main case, any other tools needed?.

I have most of the other standard hand tools for the average knuckle buster etc,
use to working on my Ford 250/350 trucks, air guns and powder burners etc,
best place to find them or buy them and the name of these tools.

Tia,
Don

Endless_sphere is a better resource for your adventure. electricbike.com/forum too. It’ll take some patience a Googling.
