Bike is due to the dealer in 2 weeks.

This will replace my WI-Bike Comfort Plus which was recalled. :-(

I also bought a Nyon upgrade kit.

Who else has an RM Nuvinci and how has your experience been?

I have a Nevo Nuvinci GH (heavier duty w/ fatter tires) that was ordered in early Feb, arrived in April and now has just gone past 1,000 miles. I really am enjoying this bike. The problem is, so does Nancy (my wife of 34 years). I just ordered another R&M bike for myself, so Nancy can ride the Nevo.

Here is a thread with my informal review that I began after my bike arrived a couple of months ago.

P.S. Although I am in the US, I have managed to put the Nyon on it and find it really helpful, informative and bulletproof, thus far.

Hey DF... That's awesome. I have the GH Nevo and I agree with the review posted by Alaskan. This machine drives like an SUV. Just point it and go. My reasons for purchasing... I'm 70, 5'11" and weighed 265 in March. Three months later, I'm still 70, but the weight has dropped to 253. I've ridden 575 miles in 3 months, with 1000 miles being my first year goal. Yes, this machine is heavy, but that is an assets when motoring down the road. It produces a solid feel, much like a Chev Suburban. Have not ventured into the Nyon yet. Enjoy !

Well I will be your age in 3 months and I am 228, 5' 10 " . Glad you are enjoying your bike ad losing weight. I used a chest strap for Heart beat on my WI-bike I try and keep it at ~100 to 105~ which is best for weight loss. I am down from 242. I loved my Wi-bike and am very disappointed they are being recalled. Funny the R&M was my other choice when I bought the Wi-bike 9 months ago. Have you had any issues with the bike mechanically or electrically? Thanks for your response.

No issues at all. My biggest complaint is the lack of a water bottle cage, but I make do. I just carry water in my trunk bag and I force myself to stop and drink. I'm never much in a hurry.
I do try to ride everyday. Sometimes it's 6 miles running errands, other days i knock out 15 miles. I did 38 miles on a converted railroad line last week (Banks-Vernonia Trail), but I'm stilll paying for that. Tough on the back, being a bit hunched over for that long of a ride. But I'm getting better with time.
Electrically speaking, the battery lasts me about 40 miles, depending on terrain. From a traffic light, I take off in Turbo and then shift to Tour. I find EMTB (Sport) to be overrated. I'm strictly a road rider and I find the later mode rather wishy-washy. Nuvinci is quiet and I've gotten used to it. Belt drive is a joy... quiet and clean.
Hardest riding for me (probably a result of being off a bike for 15 years) is slow riding in a tight space (think a crowded bike trail). Like an SUV, it can be a little wobbly when trying to slowly navigate along the curb while stopped at an intersection. I usually put my foot on the curb and wait for cars to get past me, in that situation.
I do my best to give cars a wide berth and they tend to give me respect, especially now that I can keep up with traffic flow in the city. No sudden moves, no lane splitting and no red light running. Stopping at a red light is great now, because I employ Turbo to take off. All said and done, it's a joy to ride.

I got a seat post stem water bottle holder, works fine.
I know what you mean about being bent over at this age. On my WI-bike it has swept back handle bars and I added a stem to bring the handle bars higher to give me more of an upright ride. I only ride in my developments (there are 4 caddy cornered. Or I take my bike to a local bike that has a 10 mile loop.

Based on your experience I purchased a Kinekt 2.1 for my Nevo GH. Now trying to select the proper saddle. Is your next R&M the Homage?

I got this stem cap bottle cage holder at Rose bikes in Germany. It is a brilliant solution and keeps the bottle close at hand. The bottle is made by Fabrik and can be found on ebay and other places. Same bottle that comes on the R&M Delight>

The saddle I am using and absolutely love is the Selle Anatomica made in USA near San Diego As I weight 208 lbs. I use the H3 saddle. No break in...instant comfort. I have several hundred miles on it now and it is the same as day 1 just comfortable. I have tilted it back a few degrees since this photo as that keeps me balanced in the saddle better and not constantly pushing back. Charlie Heggem of Kinekt has become a cycling friend, local pro coach, contact point guru and all around bio-efficiency expert. We ride together, he uses me as a draft horse, tucking in close behind on his all carbon road rocket. He has really helped me dial in the body mechanics and touch points. As an example, my saddle is now tilted back 2 or 3 degrees from when this was shot. Now I am not sliding forward or pushing back but just swinging in the hammock.

Oh and yes, the new bike coming is an Homage Rohloff HS with Fox Float. It is scheduled to arrive here on Monday. Nancy loved the Nevo...that's my story and I'm sticking to it. I wonder if the Body Float will be needed with a full suspension bike. Perhaps it will deal with the higher frequency vibrations? I am going to try it without and with to see if it makes enough of a difference. It sure does on a hard tail!

Don't let her ride the Homage, you may find yourself back on Nevo.

Swap suspension seatpost for dropper seat, you won't look back. I use mine all time around town, when stopped at lights or going downhill on road. 100mm should be enough for riding your doing.

My Kinekt 2.1 arrives today and I will try an assortment of saddles, the ERGON SMC4 seems like a good match. I have had some bad experiences with leather saddles in the past. With your Body Float the 2 orange springs give you enough suspension or is it stiff for your weight, which seems to be on the lower end of orange tension range. I weight just around 200 pounds and would prefer a firm but absorbing correction. Also with the ever changing regulations and the Homage’s ability on trails you are comfortable with the high speed Bosch? My experience in Pennsylvania and Santa Cruz is the HS motor with NuVinci transmission is a dog, However the Rohloff might be a better match.

The two orange springs with minimal preload seem to work well for me. I tried black/orange combo and was bottoming out occasionally with bigger bumps in the road.

I test drove a Trek supercomuter 8 with the same gearing as my Cube (Shimano Deore Xt 8000 with the 11 speed 11-42 rear cassette. My Cube has a CX and the Trek has the HS. I rode up to my house which is up a 300 foot hill in less than a mile. I found the Trek HS to be marginally less enthusiastic climbing up the steeper grades. In percentage terms it felt like maybe 10-15% more effort on my part going up a 14% grade in the lowest gear.

I should be riding the Homage Rohloff HS within a few days and will let you know my impressions. I did not have a chance to test ride the Rohloff as none were available for testing anywhere in my home state.

Great, i’m Curious about the Rohloff and HS motor, the 20 mph is annoying on the road, but we have hills in Pennsylvania and it works great. if the Rohloff HS combination climbs 12% grades that would be great. My dream bike would be the Nevo with Rohloff and belt drive and assist to 25 mph.
As for the Kinekt I looked at the video for tuning. I set the adjustment so not to have movement when I got out of the saddle then backed off two terns, it still feels like no suspension.

email Charlie Heggem at Kinekt [email protected] . He is the guy in their videos. Tell him Richard told you to get his advice. Kinekt is home town company. I am one of their beta testers.

I switched to the two black springs on the Kinek and matched it with an Ergon ST Core saddle and the combo works great.
