problems with 2016 sumo

I purchased the bike 2 months ago. The bike shop said it was a demo, gave me 30 percent off. The bike had 5 miles on it. It 140 on it now. The problem is the power keeps turning off. About every 5 miles, its starting to get on my nerves. I think battery is bad because I checked voltage on battery while on charger top off it at 48. I disconnect charger voltage drops to 46 volts. funny thing is the dash board is saying fully charged 5 bars also side of battery. I also own 2014 Neo Cross with 1900 trouble free miles. I knew going in that izip wasn't top off the line in quality. And I see only 6 month warranty on battery. to bad because the bike is a lot of fun a real good climber.

I had a bad battery on my IZIP Dash and it was replaced under warranty. Why not get yours replaced if it is defective?

If you're game, check the onboard diagnostics to verify the battery issue. IZip/Currie Tech has a clear description of how to troubleshoot the 2016 Sumo using the console. ran diagnostics . it calls for you to ride bike while cycling through 8 boards on dash. all the number values were good . of course bike shut down while doing test. it always starts up again after I press battery button and dash on off button. on the charger voltage is 50. disconnected drops to 44volts. I ride 5 miles 42volts. maybe bike is supposed to run this low. maybe cold solder some where. I'm a snowbird 1000 miles from bike shop where I bought it. I will have to call currie and see what they say.

A simple test is to swap the battery and ride it again. I suspect it is the battery.

Of course it is, @Mark Peralta; however, Bill isn't near any shop where he can do that. That's what's cool about the diagnostics, when he talks with the Currie Tech people, he will have all the necessary data to confirm what is the problem without guesswork and they can get the right part (battery/other) to him. This is one way to be sure that there isn't another component involved in the bike's performance issues.

@blacktop bill, I ran into a similar problem when working on a 2014 IZip Dash with low voltage issues. I plugged in the charger so that the battery was getting current then ran the tests, not on the road but in the shop. When wheel spinning was needed I made sure the rear wheel was off the ground (this is a rear hub motor model) and pushed a pedal using one foot. This might be an option for you to get a little more info from the tests.
