Hello From France

Last week i bought a brand new 2021 SPECIALIZED CREO SL E5 comp at a discount price Spanish SPECIALIZED DEALER

i received it this saturday , build it back and turn on the battery with the factory RESET

then the battery was less than 30% , i plugged the charger and immediatly it turned with a FLASH RED , and the battery shut down by itself after 5 minutes

I am pissed about the specialized DEALER since he told me they check the bikes before SHIPPING TO CUSTOMERS

the connections are clean

is that a FIRMWARE PROBLEM !? ALSO THE MISSION CONTROL WONT WORK ! it detected the bike and battery life and % BUT NO THE SERIAL NUMBER

i also suspect that the BIKE is from 2021 and was store in a box BATTERY LEFT FOR A YEAR with no checks !!

thanx in advance for your help !

Stanley

Is there any light pattern from the TCD (the top tube control panel)? The bars can show different color patterns that can indicate error codes. It is in the manual. If it needs any firmware update, that has to be done by the dealer - the user cannot do it.

Hopefully, that Dealer is close enough to go back and find out what's what. But I would be pissed, too.

there are no ERROR on the screen ,just three blue bars

the dealer told me if it's a battery problem sometimes it wont show any sign on the screen.... or a defective connexion between the motor and the charger

Thanx hopefully i have a Specialized dealer in my town

When you get your charge issue taken care of, I suggest getting the BLEVO app ($10, I think) and using that to show the battery charge capacity. It will show you the charge in Watt Hours, unlike the Mission Control app that just shows a percentage of battery health. That MC percentage seems to stay at 100% and not give an accurate indication of the battery state of charge. BLEVO also gives you (on the pre-2022 models) lots of motor and rider data if you’re interested in that. You can even see a spreadsheet of second-by-second ride data that includes motor power, motor and battery voltage and current, temperature…

Also, check the label on the underside of the top tube to see that date of manufacture of your bike. If yours is a year or more old, I would be especially interested in the battery reports you can see with Blevo.

found out the CHARGER WAS DEFECTIVE ! new bike.....
Just for clarification - the charger, the thing you plug into the wall for power was defective and NOT THE BIKE or its charging circuits.

Hope all goes smoothly from now on.

thanx guys: i hope SPECIALIZED support is good and can't wait to get the charger in a week...

still worried about the battery, i want a full test after a 70 miles ride

I'd not worry about the battery. My Haibike was a model year 2016 and I bought it at a steep discount in March, 2017. Since the battery was in it's deep sleep mode (like I suspect yours is, too); it was just a matter of charging the battery to awaken it. No problems at all, to this very day with that battery (though it is lightly used as I prefer my 500wh batteries over that 400wh original). Of course, that's a Yamaha ebike drive and battery system and yours is the Specialized/Brose (?)

yes was build in november 2020 TAIWAN Brose Spe motor , someone also told me not to worry about the battery.... i will find out

I bought it online and had few bad surprises, charger, damaged rear flatmount support.....

Some "Specialized dealers" are really bad. In my opinion, no Specialized dealer has the right to send an e-bike abroad (but I could be wrong). Although you could not expect a bargain, ordering from Specialized online would be a safer option. Your local Specialized dealer would build your Creo and deliver it to you!

To cheer you up: My first "Specialized dealer" was a disgrace, too. Later, I switched to a Specialized Brand Store and no more issues.

Hello Stefan

you confirmed what i feared, they even told me they check the bike before shipping but never tried to test the battery and charger before sending the BIG BOX.....what a mess

Hopefully i jhave a Specialized dealer near by and they will check the bike and ordered a new charger
