Picture rotation issue

I am having issues with posting pictures (images) on this forum. I think it has to do with metadata. When I post a correctly oriented photo, I am taking the picture with my phone held horizontally (landscape mode). With the incorrectly oriented photos, I am taking the picture with my phone held vertically (portrait mode). Either the picture metadata isn't telling Zenforo that it's in that mode, or Zenforo isn't recognizing it.

My forum photos are taken with a Samsung Galaxy S25+. Before I post the photo, I resize it using the Windows Photos app on my Windows 11 computer, in order to get the image size <2.0MB. I am viewing the forum using Mozilla Firefox.

I'd like to use this thread to help diagnose the issue and figure out a workaround. Admins can delete it afterwards if needed.

:) I’m a software guy who worked with new hardware projects most of his career. So, yeah… I know you well even though I don’t know you! :D

The security stuff I’m talking about, like location information and information about your camera/phone is not smart to have public.
If there is a simple way to inspect picture metadata, I'm all ears.

Use IrfanView. Open the photo then press I then E on the keyboard. If your photo has metadata, these will be displayed.

A lot of data...

Hmm… I have no idea how to do that on WIndows, Chris. On a Mac, you just click the info button on a picture in Photos: Here, I’ll try to show you without divulging anything particularly bad about myself. I think this is just some of the metadata, not all. Amusingly, I had to resize this screenshot image (in Preview) in order to attach it. :) :

I installed IrfanView and analyzed the picture. There's nothing there that I'm concerned about. I don't care about the filename or phone info. There are no location coordinates (they are listed, but all zeroes). No name references. It looks like the Orientation tag is what tells the forum which way to post the photo.

Thanks, Stefan.

Am I the only one who is annoyed that I have to downsize photos to sizes that were common in the 1990's just so I can upload them - only to have the forum SW resize and recompress them again to yet another size??

I get having file size limits, but I question how many cpu cycles are really being saved given the sw is still reprocessing, not just storing, every image as far as I can tell.

I just use Postimages. I upload the images then paste the url in here. Never had an issue with sizing because the image is hosted elsewhere...

I do not want to resize on the phone because I want to download the original in it's full glory.
Still can and in no way does this force you to manage the forum on your mobile.

As you can read in my post, the original photo is unchanged. My suggestion was merely another option, an alternative approach, for you to solve your problem.
